(1) How much voltage should I be considering?
(2) How much wattage?
(3) How much rpm ?
(4) Other advice?
(5) I am considering Skil and DeWalt, do you recommend one over another?
Thanks

I am describing a plan to my house and I don't know if this is the correct word. I am describing the portion from the outside door to the inside door where you can hang coats. I don't know if I make myself clear, but I will thank you for your suggestions.

I'm faced with 9 wires; 3 red (live), 3 black (neutral) and 3 bare (earth).
Q1. I'm told I need to identify the switch wire . To do this do I connect the earths together, keep the reds together then test each of the blacks after switching the power on and with the light switch in the on postion. Correct?
Q2. I'm told the one that lights up the tester is the switch wire-is this true?
Q3. Are the red and neutral wires in the same grey sheath as the black switch wire also the switch wires?
Q4. After switching off the power I'm told that I connect the switch black wire to the appliance - to the blue wire via the connector in the appliance and connect all 3 neutrals to the appliance neutral. Finally I'm told that I link the remaining 2 blacks and put into a "blank" connector -choc block. Similarly I link the 3 reds and also put into the same "blank" connector (different hole)?
Q5 What I don't understand is -if there is no red wire ie live wiregoing in to the appliance how will it work?

I have a love seat and sofa that are a brown/khaki twill and I'd like to buy an ottoman to go with them. Does the ottoman have to be the same color as the sofas? What color would go with a brown/khaki twill color? And should I get a large square ottoman, a rectangle ottoman or 2 smaller square ottomans? Thanks for the help!

I will not purchase leather (as I'm against animal cruelty).

I planted some snap dragons last year and the winter was so mild that the plants were still green under the snow! They are still growing and green. Will they still have as many blossoms as they did the first season or should I pull them up and replant new ones?

Somethings to cut back on time, energy expended, and/or money.
Looking for something involving the actual cleaning processes (dishes, clothes, floors).

Hi everyone! Recently moved to the UK and have a gas boiler at home. I removed the air off the radiators a while ago and boiler stopped working.

Last time this happened my landlord came and topped up water in the tank. I can't remember how he did that :( There are several pipes and valves underneath the boiler, but can't find which one to turn. Tried one that looked promissing and almost flooded the place. Any ideas?

Let's hope I won't freeze tonight...

Thanks :)

I have looked all over the internet and have found garland stoves but not this type. it is white. i wonder if anyone knows how much this would be worth. this is in the basement by the way. the house is old and many areas have not been updated since the 40's or 50's.

Have you ever used a "hurricane lamp," one of those glass chimneys that keeps the breeze from blowing out the flame ... or even a Moroccan lamp?

Are you nervous until you blow them out?

They are just so nice, but I am a little afraid of them, in case I might be inadvertently careless.

But I like them so much ... especially the ones that are beautifully scented and the rolled beeswax ones .... and the big pillar candles.

And you? What do you like?

I know that the furnace is providing 70,000 btu output for a two bedroom apartment with about 20 ft of exterior wall surface. I am assuming a heat load of 30 btu/hr/sf and let's say there is 800 sf in the unit.

I recently moved to an older rental. Almost all of the outlets are two prong. So I purchased some 3 prong adapters and an outlet tester.

When I just stuck the adapter in, the tester showed the connection as ungrounded. As soon as I screwed the adapter to wall plate with the wall plate screw, the tester showed I had a "correct" (grounded) connection.

In lay terms, how does one little screw accomplish this task?

Is this grounded adapter as good as a regular 3 prong grounded connection?

We just moved into our new house in October. The previous owners didn't like the grass in the back yard, so they cut the lawn out and reseeded. There are two large locust trees in the backyard that provide a great deal of shade, which explains the thin grass growth. I am hoping to plant some hostas and various perrenials along the foundation of our house. There is one thing that worries me though. The ground bordering the back of the house is bare, and grass is present about 1 1/2 feet from the house. It's like a grassless border. Since grass isn't growing there, does that mean nothing else will?

These are unreachable by hand to do scrubbing. Is there a chemical out there safe to use on a food service item like coffee decanters? One type is just glass, and the other decanter has the lower half just of stainless steel - but it seems to hold the staining of the coffee and the brush seems to have no effect. Thanks for your help!
