These are unreachable by hand to do scrubbing. Is there a chemical out there safe to use on a food service item like coffee decanters? One type is just glass, and the other decanter has the lower half just of stainless steel - but it seems to hold the staining of the coffee and the brush seems to have no effect. Thanks for your help!

Use Dip-It.It is a cleaner made for coffee makers and will help with the decanters too.
It is available in the coffee aisle or the cleaning aisle.

Lemon juice and salt. Mix them in to a thin pasty liquid and scrub. Works like a charm on lime and coffee buildup in both glass and stainless.

Jays absolutely right - give him the points. If it is one of those big urn coffee makers, scrub with the mix till most of its gone, then fill the pot and let it soak for a while.

I use "Lime Away" and it has specific instructions for Coffee Makers and Pots. It removes all scale and once finished per the instructions, you wash as normal and rinse very good and thoroughly.

a cap full of bleach or you can run white vinegar threw the pot like your brewing coffee to clean the inside of the system. the tiniest bit of bleach will just totally clean it off. and you don't have to worry that it's poisonous because if you need to clean water in an emergency you had a cap full to bleach to a gallon of water
