The label says Datura, and it bloomed inside my apartment a few times over the summer (white upright bells that withther the following day, the blossom is scented like ivory soap).

Just to confound things I pinched some Baptista (I think) seeds from a local nursery, which have just started to sprout (one for sure, maybe two).

Nothing would make me prouder than to father a Baptista plant.

So I'm willing to chop the Datura, if that would help.

Do you think I can keep both going over winter in the same pot?

Am I a fool to think a seedling of Baptista will make it to spring time with out grow lights?

One more additional complication about my lighting situation. It's a south facing window, but it has plastic opaque sheet on it (bought from Ikea) so I can enjoy the sunlight, but maintain some privacy. So far in my extermely limited experience of growing apartment plants (a few months with the Datura) nothing has died.

We had just bought a little conventional oven for the kitchen so we can bake chicken. Today I had some chicken baking in the little oven and when I came back to check up on it, it was off. I noticed that our rice cooker wasn't powered on either, come to find out, none of the appliances that required power outlets were not working. Including the refridgerator!!! In our other rooms, everything works fine, the outlets are working. It's just the ones in the kitchen, does anyone know what happened?? And what should I do to fix this? Is it something with the circuit breaker? We turned it off and turned it back on but its still not working....

Have been looking at light switches, and they've all got '4 gang 2-way' or '2 gang 1-way' written on them and I can't find what that means. I've figured that 'gang' seems to equal 'buttons' (separate switches) but is that right? And what the hell does 'way' mean? Don't want to blow the electrics by fitting a wrong switch!

My toilet tank keeps filling with a slow hiss and is overflowing into that tall tube inside the tank. There is no rod and ball float. Instead it's got a yellow rectangular float looking thing on the main water tube. The yellow rectangular float does not move up or down.

I've looked on the internet, and every example always has the rod and ballfloat example.

Is there a simple adjustment I can make so it will to stop filling the tank after the tank is full?

I was just given 3 rose bushes in large pots. I would like to plant them in the yard instead of keeping them in the pots all winter. Our temps, right now, range from 80's to the 60's at night. Any help would be appreciated.

Currently our hot water heater is located in the crawl space beneath our house. We'd like to replace it with a tankless system but are not sure where to install the unit. It would be easiest as far as plumbing and electrical to put it where the traditional hot water heater is, but is it a real option? We live in central North Carolina where temperatures are rarely less than 30 degrees during the winter months.

I just wanted to know if it would be best to remove for the winter and replant next year. I need to know for sure that you remove them after the ferost. These ekephant ears are the biggest ones I've had in years and don't want to lose them. I sure do hope you can help me. Thank you!!!

Furniture is too big! Sofa cushions are too thick, so that when you sit down the cushion comes up around you. This is not comfortable. I want a sofa that only has 4-5 inch thick cushions; there aren't any. Plus, today's sofas are just plain ugly! Mattresses are too high too. You should not have to stand on your toes to get into bed. In this case, big is NOT better. Does anyone agree?

Here's the situation, on my street we have those kind of square mailboxes for 16 houses where everyone gets a key. Basically our mail carrier only has to stop at 6 of these things rather than each individual house. She left a hand written note that said there will be now mail today because of two cars that were parked on the curb infront of the mailbox, it was just that specific mailbox that did not recieve mail. This is an unmarked curb for anyone to park at and the cars vary from day to day (ie different residents or visitors). For her a simple solution would be to park a little past the mailbox and walk down, it's not like she's going from house to house. Our previous mailcarrier had no problems with it. I just want to know if were being punished for her lazyness.

I have a house in an area (southern Ontario) that is subject to wind-storms. I want to enclose my side porch in plastic so that I can smoke there - I just had a baby and can't smoke inside anymore. I put up 5 mm plastic with staples and strapping wood held up with finishing nails, but in the first wind-storm most of it came down. Would tarps work better? I can't afford to do it in properly with lattice and plywood right now, although that is my ultimate goal. Also I am alone here with my baby, my husband is a long-hauler and I need to be able to do this myself. I can operate a nail gun, a skil-saw, a staplegun. Please advise!

I am building an entertainment center out of oak, and certain spots need wood filler. I know fairly well the sand, clean, stain, sand, polyurethane procedure, but where in this is the best time to use wood filler, and any tips on techniques or brands?
