Women's Health - January 2007

I do EVERYTHING the doctor says to do in order to prevent infection relapses - take all antibiotic pills, drink at least 8oz of water a day, do not have intercourse - and 2 weeks after I finish my antibiotics, I have the same pain again that induces vomiting and fatigue. I have never had a urinary tract or bladder infection - or at least I never noticed any discomfort associated with the two.

Could my doctor be misdiagnosing me? What else could this be?

My friend is going to stay with her boyfriend and his parents in a hotel a couple hours away, him and her are going to share their own room.....well he wants her to have sex but he doesn't want to or can't get protection and she is only 14, she doesn't want to get pregnant but he refuses to get protection. I told her a couple things to tell him (kinda innapropiate) but she doesn't want to tell him those so I don't know what the hell I am supposed to tell her....plus she doesn't have the money for an abortion and her parents will blow the situation out of proportion......what can I tell her, she is very stubborn and is too chicken/ or just is too scared to tell him anything but yes, and I told her that is she ABSOLUTELY MUST then atleast just stick to foreplay but......What can I tell her????

I started menstruating at the age of 11, at around the age of 13 my periods because very irregular , i visited the doctor & he said it was normal, so this continued up until a couple months ago (im 19 now) i saw the doctor about this again last year & he said it was normal & that it takes a while to get regulated but i had been menstruating for over 8 years . Now lately I have noticed alot of werid acne & alot of facial hair growth .. on my chin but my periods are somewhat regular now; but the pms is awful it starts about 2 weeks before i actually start my period & when i do get my period it goes on for days & it is so painful i almost cry .. i also have big acne bumps all over my thighs (near my groin area) like there massive almost like pimples but bigger, should i see a doctor about this or is it just a phase? Any help or suggestions, personal stories etc would be greatly appreciated! Thanks : )

my mom has been really stressed lately an di heard my stepdad talking about my mom on the phone and he said green stuff was coming up when she vomits, and shes had heartburn and something about a thyroid. today she got bood tests done and the doctors dont know whats wrong with her..and wen i came home from school on the counter there was ginger ale, gatorade, an pepto bismal so what is going on?

I have been to Two Hospitals and they are trying to send me to specialists but I don't have insurance so I cant even make an appointment. Is Cook County Hospital going to do the same? Should I go there? Is there A Women's clinic that is free or self pay? I am really freaking out because the lump keeps growing.

my fiancee and i have been sleeping together since we were together for only a few months...starting in september her periods have become lighter and this month she is 3 days late.....we have taken several home pregnancy tests including a blood test through her dr's office....could it be possible that she really is pregnant and it just didnt show up in the tests? she says she feels weird sensations in her stomach and we are both a lil worried about it..not worried as in we do not want a baby because we do but because it said no but if she is she hasnt been acting like she is and she has been doing things she shouldnt be doing if she is....can somebody please help me. thanks in advance and please no smart as* remarks.

Half of my thyroid was taken out to remove a benign nodule which had made me hyperthyroid. It has been six weeks since the surgery. My TSH level is now at 9 (hypothyroid) and I'm supposed to start taking Synthroid. I was hoping the remaining half of my thyroid would start to work so that I could avoid taking medication. Has anyone had luck with this? What steps did you take?

I stopped in November, got my normal period (during the week of the placebos) and then December was actually 2 days early (26 instead of 28). This month is at 35 days and counting. How long did it take for your period to regulate itself? What is the "latest" period you have after stopping the pill?

Ive been on Prozac since my son was born for post pardum depression. The doctor took me off it becuase he says that im better and i feel better. Im also on Ortho Tri Cyclen lo. I was supposed to get my period today and its not here. I was wondering if getting off an anti-depressant would delay a period.

I've been on birth control for almost 3 years. I was originally on Orthotricyclen lo, and a few months ago I started Yasmin.
I was thinking about going off of the pill to see if it would be easier to lose weight. I think it's been harder to lose weight ever since I started the pill and I think it made me gain some weight. Does anyone know if this will cause weight gain? Has anyone gained weight from going off the pill?
