This really depends on you, your body, and your relationship with your sexual partner.

The condom I would say is the best real "protection", because I'd rather deal with an unwanted pregnancy than an STD I'd have to deal with for the rest of my life, but then condoms are only on average about 85% effective. That's a lot of room for error.

Hormonal methods, of course, are the best birth control, as they are most effective (most are about 99.9% effective). What form you use, however, is up to you and how you work. I use NuvaRing because I honestly would never be able to remember to take a pill every day. For you, though, the shot, the patch or an implant or a intrauterine device might be better, I don't know.

If you're with a partner you haven't had tested for STIs, and you had to choose between a condom or a hormonal birth control, I would go with the condom. The best birth control would be a combined barrier method (i.e. the cervical cap or sponge, or a condom) with a hormonal method.

If you're with a partner you love and trust and you've both been tested for STIs, I would feel perfectly safe, as I do now, using just a hormonal method.

In order to me

Abstinence, pill, shot and sponge

Which is best for you depends upon you

Abstinence is unrealistic for some people
Pill causes weight gain
Shot is good if you cant remember to take the pill
Sponge is good for last minute trysts along with a condom

I hope this helps

well it all depends on the person... u'll probably have to try a few before getting the right one... some have more hormones then others and i know myself i had tried 3 before i found the right one alot of them made me throw up because there were to much hormones for me so it all depends on your body... Im on Alesse right now supposingly its very low with hormones. Ask your doctor or Gynocologist...sorry if i spelt that wrong! Good Luck!!

And for the people who keep telling u no sex! keep ur legs closed... well BC isnt just used to not get prego its used to keep ur period regular as well so....

Not that I'm in favor of it, but I would guess that abstinence is the absolute best type of birth control.

It has to do with your personal physical health and situation. Birth control pills do well for some people and not for others. Check with your gynecologist and ask him.
