I have a very serious question regarding blood draws with syringes. I have had my blood drawn several times before but never really made a big deal out of it until I heard a friend of mine saying that he always pays attention and sees if the nurse is opening a new syringe in front of him...I never paid attention before to this thing which I guess was very stupid of me !

Now to my question...how do they make sure they dont make the mistake of re-using the syringe...I mean the mistake can be so easily done..the nurse uses the syringe, transfers the blood to the test tube, recaps the empty syringe, and then without paying attention put the syringe on the table instead of putting it in the disposer....and then, when the next patient comes, the nurse uses the same syringe on him...

how do u guys make sure u dont make this mistake ! I mean it is sooooooooo doable....

I am freaked out !

I told my mom that my throat was a little red, so it has to be red within the next couple of hours before she gets home. My throat really does hurt, but she won't let me stay home unless she sees proof. So any ideas that would make it red?

My husband is positive "Hepatitis B core antibody" and all the other hepatitis B tests are negative, two months ago also he was having the same result.
Six months ago he was all negative.
I also tested my self it came all negative.
He is not having any health complications and he didn't have any troubles for the last three years.
Doctor told him you don't have to take any treatment; have sex with your wife without protection!!!!
My questions are:
1- Is the viruses still a live in his liver?
2-what is the chance to transfer the virus to me.
3- What is the likelihood for the virus to start active again?
4- Do you suggest any medicine for him at this stage?
5- Is the "Hepatitis B core antibody" test required for immigration or they are asking for the "Hepatitis surface antigen" test only

I am on a pill called spyrodactylone, a prescribed pill for me, and I'm feeling quite dizzy. Could this be from the pill? Is there a way to stop this right now?

I was in hospital over a week ago and one IV had to be removed (because strong antibiotics were hurting the vein) and placed in the other hand. The nurse attempted to insert the needle in the other hand but said something about breaking my vein, and I was crying it hurt so much, then she tried a bit further up the same vein and failed as well. In the end another nurse got it in near my elbow.

It's been over a week and my hand around the area where the nurse attempted to do the two IV punctures is turning dark and bruised and is painful to touch. It seems to be getting worse. Any advice or similar stories? Thanks!

I'm bored, and I was thinking. So here's my random question. Is it possible that an organ which had been transplanted into a patient (such as a kidney) could end up being re-transplanted on that persons death into someone else. Has this ever happened, maybe by accident? Just curious!

I am overweight and I did a pharmacy do it yourself test. The diastolic was normal but the systolic was 130 and my heart rate was 101. I dont have insurance so I cant go to the doctor but I would pay to go if this is considered high.

Need help from Dr.'s or Nurses out there.
I took a bp of 140/120, 30 mins before the patient was referred to the doctor . The Dr. then ranted on the absurdity of the bp that i got. So she checked it again and got 150/90. Then she let me check it again and I got the bp of 140/100. I got this by getting the first loud sound (systole) and last loud sound (diastole). She said that I should get the first and last sound. We were taught in school and practiced in community service that the bp should be the first loud sound and last loud sound we hear. BTW she ranted and scolded me in front of the patient and the wife. I'm a student nurse.
