All depend on the kind of food you eat and what was in your stomach prior to eating. Your metabolism also is a factor. Normally it takes about half an hour to completely digest any food. If you don't eat anything unusual (including previously) it can take up to a day to feel the need to discharge it out (bowel movement). It can be faster than this if you take more of the easily digested food like water.

The reason your corn comes out whole is because you don't chew it as well as you think - it does not digest. Because of this, do not dump your leftover corn, from the fishing trip, in the water. The fish do not digest this either and it will cause their stomachs to expand and kill them.

And I used to think it was like 4-6 hours for digestion on most stuff, but I can upchuck things way more hours later than that.

It depends on what you've eaten. Some food types move through your system faster, others, like carbohydrates (bread, pasta etc) take longer. Generally everything has moved through in 24 hours or so.
If you feel you need to go after eating, it's just that what you have just eaten is sort of pushing through what you ate earlier and making you feel like you need to go. It's not what you're currently eating, just the fact that you are.

Based on chemical composition, no two things will digest in your stomach at the same rate. In fact, some things never get digested. It is very unlikely that you would expel somthing you ate immediately after eating it.

i saw something gross on Oprah the other day, meat takes several days to go thru ur system, it basically sits and rots in your stomach.
denending on your body and how it works and if it's in good shape generally 24 hours for other foods to pass and be broken down. i think the whole meat part was so gross and kinda makes me wanna be a vegetarian
