Sweetheart you need to go to the ER right now and tell them these feelings. They will admit you but I promise in a few days you will start feeling like your old self agin. I went through something similar a few years back and my parents had me admitted and it is the best thing they have ever done for me. I got the help I needed in a safe and understanding environment. They were also able to straighten out the chemicals in my brain so that I could lead a normal life. Do not be embarrassed about seeking help. If it is something that would bother you if it got out, then I would recommend telling your boss (they are required to keep such information confidential) and tell everyone else you are going on a little vacation and will be unavailable for a few days. Just pleeeeeease do not give up on yourself. I promise you things can get better and they will you just have to take the fisrt step.

They have medicine for panic attacks that can actually be prescribed by your regular doctor. This is something that happens to a lot of people. There is help. The medicine takes some time (weeks) to work, so don't wait. Go to the doctor now. If your regular doctor can't help you go and see a psychiatrist.

There is some information here to help you understand what you are going through:

Welcome to the world of mental illness!! You have joined us - hope you don't stay too long, but I am glad you stopped by for a visit.

You could possibly be one of the lucky ones - may just be a thyroid problem, easily diagnosed with a blood test.

You should at least let a doc run this test - otherwise, welcome to hell : ( - please stay away from the razors .
