My sister has an extra pair of colored, non prescription contacts and she gave them to me. I am wondering if it's safe to wear my prescription contacts under the colored ones.

If I look at a black circle on a white field, I see a blue outline around the NW half, and an orange outline around the southeast half. Does everyone see that?

I recently got contacts and after a few hours I always have red eyes. I use red eye drops before I put my contacts in, and this lasts for a couple hours maybe. I keep reading on the labels and in discussions that I can't use them while wearing contacts. I asked my eye doctor and he said I could, just that it has a rebound effect. Why can't I use them? Does it really affect my contacts? And can they be damaged?

I heard that laser surgery can now treat longsightedness. Thing is as my eyes must obviously be getting worse hence needing new glasses, what happens after the surgery, do i still need glasses after a few years or not? Also my brothers mate said you can treat yourself by getting a cd walkman wiring it up to double the voltage and stare into the lens thing. frightened to try it as may hurt! Advise (sensible only)

My contacts recently began getting blurry in the afternoons, and sometimes they burn. I have Refresh rewetting drops for contacts, which I use-but it does not help one bit!!! I wear Focus Night and Day lenses, which I never sleep in. Even when I take them out and rinse them with solution, when I put them back in they still fog. What is the deal?!?! This is so annoying.

When I take the lens out, the irriation goes away. It is only one eye, and has persisted several days. I don't see any redness or foreign body in the eye and have tried flushing with saline with no improvement. Have eye doctor appointment on Monday. Any suggestions on what to do, or what this may be? thanks

Hi all,

I was just wondering why you can only wear disposable contacts for two weeks? I steralize mine every night and take good care of them so why can't they be used for three weeks or longer?

Thanks in advance,
Stu :-)

How can I tell if I have it or not? I'm 13 and my vision has been getting worse every year for just about the past 7 years. I believe there was one year when my vision actually got better, but I dunno. Last I checked, my vision was -9 and -7 in my right and left eye, and I know it's gotten worse this year. Do I have degenerative myopia?

Occasionally, in particular when I get really nervous or stressed out about something, my veins along the side of my forehead start pounding very heavily to the point where I can feel them portrude from my skin. Also, my vision begins to change - the best way to describe it is that it's as if my eyes dilate (become blurry) for each heart beat. It is like my optic nerves are making my vision "pound" with each heart beat.

This usually lasts for a very short period of time - no longer than 30 seconds. But whenever it does happen, I become very nervous and try to just calm myself down by taking deep breaths until it passes. I even worry that it could be a stroke... could it?

I tried to research this and some things I found are Intracranial Hyptertenstion and/or Papilledema. Could it be any of these?

Also, I am a 16 year old male. I am currently taking medication for hyperthyroidism. Other than that, I am in good health.

My husband is 36 and is very near sighted. He recently starting seeing a lot of floaters in both eyes--worse in his left. He's had occasional ones but he says this is like trying to see through a snowglobe. He saw an opthamologist and he said my husband is just getting old. The dr. did rule out problems with his retina. Since the increase in floaters seemed to come on suddenly, my husband's not convinced it's just his extreme old age (I had no idea 36 was old!). Has anyone else had this problem? What were you told and what did you do about it?

Next week I am meeting with my doctor to try to get a referral for the lasik eye surgery. Besides all the complications I have with my job/lifestyle with contacts and glasses any advice on what I should say to sway him more? I get a lot of symptoms with both glasses and contacts, and am going to tell him that. I have very sensitive eyes to light and everything...

i need to get a Rx for contact lenses. i don't have insurance. when i normally go for such an exam they do some tests such as the thing that blows air into your eye, and something where they put like a yellow die in your eye and such. can i tell them i don't want all those extra tests, that all i want is just what they have to do to give me a prescription, and save money? if so, what are those tests? the reason is because i don't have insurance, so even if they do a test and tell me my pressure is high there's nothing i can do about it anyway, so why test for something that can't be addressed. can i please have some guidance from a professional on this. is this a bad theory? and please list any credentials so i can "weigh" the value of your answer (although i thank everyone in advance for any answer and think they all have value, just different leves-even the sarcastic ones.)
