Neither, sounds like you are getting really ripped off. I have very specialized lenses for my glasses, takes a couple of weeks at a special lab, and they only cost me about $320; with frames less than what you pay. But regular glasses for my kid are only about $150-$200 depending on high priced frames. Daily wear contacts she gets are also less than a $1 a day. You really need to shop around.

60 dollars a month for contacts? That seems really high. I have acuvue oaysis contacts and they are one of the more expensive brands. They are 50 dollars for a 6 week supply. I usually stretch that 6 weeks to three months!!

A true sk8r punk would buy funky used glasses at a thrift store or on eBay and get new lenses put in (Walmart will do that for about $60). Or you could order glasses on the internet from someplace like Zenni Optical or LBWeyewear.

Honestly, it would be better to find a more modestly priced pair of glasses AND get contacts. If you're going to wear contacts, you'll still need a back-up pair of specs anyway. Why not pick out something a little less expensive and get both?

If the cost of contacts is a concern, then you should discuss with your doctor why you're in such expensive lenses. There are cheaper alternatives out there. $60/mo is quite expensive.

Also, compare your doctor's lens prices with the Internet or Wal-Mart/Costco, etc.

If your doctor has no other alternatives for you, then you need to go for glasses. When people have cost concerns over contact lenses, they then to cut costs by over-wearing, under-cleaning, not changing out lens cases, and other abuses.

I personally perfer contacts because they do not get in the way of things. They can't fall off your face and you have peripheral vision as well. I always pick contacts over glasses.
