My best friend in the whole world has suffered with bi-polar for the past 5 yrs. In the beginning she was put on Depakote and then weaned from that and was placed on Lithium. Over the last two years she has had manic outbursts and had to be hospitalized at least 2 times. The first hospitalization a psychiatrist took her off one of her daily doses of Lithium (she had been on 4 a day for years). The second hospitalization she was put on Ambilify along with the Lithium. Approximately 3 months ago she switched psychiatrists and the new one is giving her Welbrutrin XR along with the Lithium and Abilify and she just saw her doctor yesterday and he wants to wean her off of Lithium to go back to Depakote and Tegretol (she took Tegretol yrs. ago and made her sleep all the time). She is super depressed now and has no desire to do anything but eat and sit around. Are there any other newer medicines that could possibly help her out than the ones already on the market?

I am emotionally abused by my parents. They scream at me and put me down with insults. I can never live up to what they want me to be. I get straight A's in AP and Honors classes and I play on club sports teams, but it is never enough. They always tell me its not enough and I need to do better, but I don't know what is better. They also blame me for problems around the house, for example, my dad is a little OCD with cleaning, but my mom keeps the house messy, so my dad blames me for the mess around the house, even though I hardly ever "hang-out" downstairs and I never keep anything down there. Somehow its my fault for their mess, everything is my fault, even though I'm not involved in it. I'm tired of it and it is making me severely depressed. I've tried to confront them a couple times, but they deny it. For example, I asked my Dad to stop yelling and screaming at me and that it wasn't my fault but he would yell I'm not yelling at you! Anyone have advice on how to deal with i

I'm so terrified of flying but I love travelling to different countries. Like I'll have panic attacks just thinking about the door of the plane closing, trapping me inside this metal contraption that's flying 30,000ft in the air, leaving me powerless to escape....Am I just crazy...or can u relate to me?

I'm really confused. Hear my dilemma: I went away recently to the island of Tobago in the Caribbean with my mom and I had a really great time. But sometimes, I just felt so alone. I can only describe it as this internal sadness that doesn't make me cry, but longs to be at home in a familiar environment.....yet I didn't want to leave the fun that I was having.

I'm chronic major depression, severe. I've been on most psycotropics, I've seen psychologists, psychiatrists, and LPCs. I've been hospitalized five times, I'm currently having shock treatments. I just feel like I really really don't want this anymore.

My boyfriend has such low self esteem because of his father. His father raped and beat him for years and also his mother and sisters. He is very depressed all the time. He says things like "i'm a loser" just very negitive thinking about himself. I spoke to my therapist and he told me to leave my boyfriend but I don't want to do that. I want to help him and make him better. He always thinks things like I'm cheating on him and that I'm going to leave him for someone else and I've done some reasearch on this and when you are raped it causes trust issues. I love him very much and only want what is best for him but I do not know what to do to help him. I reassure him that he isnt all the things he thinks he is. I tell him he isnt a loser and that no matter what I'll always love him. And that I love him for who he is. He went to counseling when he was younger but his parents wouldnt let him tell what really happend they told the dr.s that he was a bad kid. Please help me help him.

he is 48 and has had this problem for most of his life. he also has been diagnosed with parinoied skitzopheina. he has tried all the drugs, tried booze, he has tried God he has commited himself 2 times, . Huge mixup at the hospital both times. going there was a big mistake. He says that he just can't go though the medication thing again. None seemed to bring relief. he trust no one. I am his only friend, and that gets awful hard on me. Now for the big piece of information His mother told him when he was a child, , he was the off spring of a ET. She also told him 6 years ago that she had tried to kill him by thowing him against the wall when he was a baby. This is not a joke. She told me she was what she called a white witch. She is on heavey med now at 81 years old because she took a butcher knife to her daughter about 4 years ago. I need help for my husband. Dont tell me to leave him. I married him for better or worse. But the worse has lasted 19 years. I want some better now. Help!

Social retardation from what ive seen isn't a really defined condition such as autism or ADD. Im just talking about social awkardness, EXTREME dorkiness, etc. Or maybe it IS a defined condition? Im not sure. Also, if you have any information on social retardation besides hereditory implications feel free to discuss that too.
