There's really no answer to this question since different medications perform differently for different people. You need to speak with your personal doctor to figure out which antidepressant is appropriate in your situation. Then you might need to switch to a different medication if the prescribed antidepressant is not working or has too many unwanted side effects.
I would recommend seeing a psychiatrist to get the prescription rather than a family doctor. The psychiatrist knows the different medications and how they perform in different people. A family doctor isn't very experienced in the usage of these types of medications.

There isn't any one "best" medication - different people respond differently to different meds. Person A might do well on Zoloft while Person B might have a lot of side effects to it and little relief from their depression. Sometimes, it's a matter of trial and error. And that takes patience since it can take 4-6 weeks for an antidepressant to fully take effect.
I agree with the poster above, you need to see a psychiatrist to talk about your specific symptoms and discuss what options are open to you. Also consider some of the stress reducing techniques from other posters and possibly seeing a therapist to talk about whatever is going on in your life.

It depends on the problem, and the person. Im on zoloft, have found that to work really well, but ive heard storys about other people on zoloft who had a terrible time. Talk to your doctor, they will work out whats best for your situation. It may take a few tries of different medications to get the right one for you, but its worth it. Good luck!

There is only one answer to this question but few can afford it. Take a vacation in a new place away from all old friends and find one new friend.

Golly, that really depends on what kind of depression you have. Go get diagnosed, and stay away from Zoloft, it makes you chubby.
