I'm so terrified of flying but I love travelling to different countries. Like I'll have panic attacks just thinking about the door of the plane closing, trapping me inside this metal contraption that's flying 30,000ft in the air, leaving me powerless to escape....Am I just crazy...or can u relate to me?

It's ok to be scared. It's not natural for humans to fly. I like kayaking and bodyboarding, but I still feel a little something in the back of my mind when I go swimming. I know I don't belong in the ocean, and heaven forbid I lose my life to it! You just have to have faith in humanity and our abilitiy to develop amazing technology like airplanes and rocketships. They spend a lot of money to make those big airplanes. They take people up and about by the thousands everyday. It's not an adventure anymore. It's just like riding in a car. They spend even more money making sure you have a safe flying experience. So next time, relax. You know what? My advice is buy tickets from the best, expensive airlines. That way you're flying with peace of mind.

I kind of feel that way about cruises. It's great going to all those different tropical islands, but being stranded in the middle of the ocean on a big, metal "contraption" freaks me out. Maybe it's just 'cause I can't really swim, and if I didn't make it onto a lifeboat, I'd drown. I don't know... planes are scary, too. Especially, after you see that Final Destination movie. It was a stupid film, but I'll always think of it when I get on a plane. As well as terrorists!

You are not crazy, and don't listen to anyone that says you are. I don't have a problem with flying as such but hate being in confined spaces and have a huge fear of drowning. So I'm not planning any submarine trips in the near future...

Good luck with your travels : )

You aren't a nut. Lots of people are terrified of flying. Even some celebrities are. William Shatner's white-knuckled flying was worth a few paragraphs in one of his autobiographical books.

I have flown dozens of times without a panic attack ever, until my last trip, last month. Ask your doctor for Ativan (lorazepam) (generic) and take them the day before and the days you are on the plane, they really helped me.

You're a nut...and I can relate to you!! I love to fly but I'm afraid of heights. Does that make any sense?
