It takes me about three hours to fall asleep, and I wake up spontaneously during the night. So I took half of a Unisom sleeping pill last night at about midnight, and I slept hard for twelve hours, right through my alarm. I still feel sleepy, like I could sleep for a whole day. That was the first time I'd ever used sleeping medication, so I'm wondering if this extreme effect will lessen if I continue to use it.
Also, I'd like to know if there's a natural, healthy alternative to sleeping pills that won't "knock me out" like this.
Thanks everyone!

Once when my sister was in the hospital the nurses did not take care of her as I would have liked. They were always chatting or going to lunch. They did not speak to us...not even a hi or anything. I find this rude and uncaring...it bothers me but I never say anything.

If someone says they don't participate in life, and just stay in bed all day, what is most likely to be the drug they (the psychiatrist) will prescribe? And, this person has never taken any meds before. This is assuming they will diagnose depression as the cause, and this is in addition to any therapy. The question is only about the drugs.

I fall asleep alright but I hardly ever feel like I've had a "Good night sleep."

Do you think sleeping pills work, if they do would the help me feel fresher in the mornings?

Thanks

I have been having horrible insomnia for about a month now, i feel like a different person. I find myself becoming depressed because of lack of sleep. Usually i only get 2 - 3 hrs a night, a lucky night is 5 hrs which is only twice a week. I have been on .5 mg of xanax (started off with .25 mg at bed) that worked for about a week or two, then i upped it to the .5mg. that worked for a couple nights, but i find myself worrying thru that now. I have tried ambien and don't like it. I most recently switched to lunesta and am gonna give that a try. I have been trying to get off the xanax beccause i dont want to depend on it and i feel it effects my memory. Is it safe for me to stop taking it after a month, i only had two 1/4 pills yesterday and had anxiety but tried to just not think about it. If i dont have any today will my health be at risk? I am going into the doctors next week. I have read all the side effects with xanax but if i've only been taking it a month am i in danger?

I was on lorazepam and the med make me feel more tense, now I got clonazepam and I feel extremely tired, almost drunk, and very clumsy. I don't understand this though, because I thought diazepam was a stronger med and never felt like this on it. Is this another med reaction? What do I do?

My pinkie finger has been hurting me a lot. The finger does not lay out or rest straight, the top part of my finger (the nail bed on up) is slightly bent inwards. I have also noticed a curve like ) happening. Yet the curve is a little further up and does not curve in as much.
My finger also likes to stay bent.
I have not really done anything that would cause a broken finger, sprain or anything of the sort.
I am also a little intimidated by the thought of getting my finger "reset". How much does that hurt?
Could it be broken?
How long would it take to fix?

Thank you

I live in Belgium. Each month I have to have an injection. (Not just any injection. The biggest, fattest injection you ever saw. Really needs to be done by a doctor or nurse.)

In August I will be in America. They will never let me on the plane with such a needle. I cannot check it, because the medecine cannot be shaken up or it becomes unusable (and with the tossing of cargo bags...). There's no way a pharmacy in the US will fill a foreign prescription is there?

I suppose I could go to a US doctor with a note and prescription from my Belgian doctor, try to order the medicine from him/her and go back for the injection. However, if I could avoid this costly route it'd be great (as the doc will surely charge me an office visit just to explain and rewrite the prescription, then probably again to administer it.)

Any creative ideas how to resolve this?
Thanks!

I have severe chapped/sore lips due to picking with them.....(I know, I shouldn't pick with them. It's a nervous habit). But I have stopped. Does anyone know what I can use to get them back to normal! I've used Blitex and sooooo many other lip balms.

hello.....

for the last couple of days, I've had a very sore, almost excrutiating pain in my eyes and sockets whenever I move my eyes to the left and right more than just slightly. It's almost a fist clutching pain and it sends a shock of pain in my head.

I would say it started a couple nights ago after I threw up. While in the middle, I saw 'stars' or spots. I threw up because I was eating and a friend showed me a disgusting picture. Ah, it brings back horrors now.

Anyways, any info and insight would be awesome.

thanks!!

I can't breathe, exhale or inhale through my nose. I try to blow my nose and barely nothing comes out. I rub vicks on my nose, throat and chest but it doesn't seem to help since I can't even inhale a little bit to make it feel better. I use Nasicort 2 sprays in each nostril once a day and it doesn't help at all only for about half hour. After that nothing seems to let up.

I have this really huge thing at school on Friday where I'm reciting mostly everything. This stuffy nose causes me to hear less (people say I sound louder than I actually do but to me I think I sound fine). It also sucks to breathe through your mouth, my tongue gets dry when i sleep and hurts when I wake up.

I also have a vicks humidifier. And it doesn't seem to help either since I'm not breathing it in directly.

I've also been mucus conjested for 2.5 years and no doctor has seemed to help.

Anybody recommend any OTC drugs or even behind the pharmacy where no prescription is required?

Thanks in advance.

I'm always tired. Even if i sleep 4 hours or 10 hours, I am still tired throughout the day. I eat at least 3 meals per day, and drink plenty of liquid... i even get some type of exercise in (walking, pool) so its not like i'm inactive. I always try to go to bed around the same time if not few mins before/after. I don't wake up at the same times, because I have different schedule depending on the day or what I have to do. When I wake up and even throughout the day my eyes feel like I haven't slept and they feel itchy (like itchy/bothering as if you haven't slept for 2 days, not as real itchiness).

Anyone know how can I fix this tiredness problem... or anyone know what could it be?
