I was on lorazepam and the med make me feel more tense, now I got clonazepam and I feel extremely tired, almost drunk, and very clumsy. I don't understand this though, because I thought diazepam was a stronger med and never felt like this on it. Is this another med reaction? What do I do?

What does diazepam (Valium) have to do with this? Were you on that before the others?

I took lorazepam (Ativan) for awhile and it messed me up a bit. It's fast acting and I felt drugged. I was addicted within a month or so. I was switched to clonazepam (Klonopin) and I haven't had any problems at all. Rarely any sleepiness, etc. I take 1mg in the morning and 0.5mg at night. Clonazepam is 'stronger' than lorazepam because it had a longer half-life and stays in your system longer. I'm surprised you didn't have these effects from the lorazepam since it hits faster and harder at first than the Clonazepam, it just wears off quicker.

You didn't say how high the dose was so maybe that's the problem. Is it too much? Other than that, it may just be your personal reaction to the drug and you may have to talk to your doctor about switching again.

Both lorazepam and clonazepam are benzodiazepine drugs. They work exactly the same as each other. What I think is the problem is a matter of equivalent doses. You have probably taken a more potent dose of clonazepam than lorazepam.
1 mg of lorazepam = 0.5 mg of clonazepam
Diazepam is not stronger than lorazepam or clonazepam. Lorazepam and clonazepam are high potency benzodiazepines.
There are problems associated with long term use of benzodiazepines both to physical and mental health. Read my sources below.
They are all very addictive and the withdrawal symptoms can be severe as well. Don't stop those drugs ever abruptly.

They affect everyone differently. I can take a whole sedative and go to work, but if my mom takes 1/4 of one before bed, she wakes up hungover. Seems like your system just is more sensitive ro the clonazepam. Try cutting one in half?

To start with, why do you take this medications? Is it because you have sleeping problems, seizures or restless legs? I am also wondering if you are taking these medications at night time or day time. These medications should be take before you go to bed. It can cause drowsiness thus makes you feel tired, spaced out and clumsy. What you have described is the side effect of the drug. I know that as you take the medication in time, the side-effects will taper off (but not all though).
