this can be tricky and i'm surprised your dr hasn't come up with a better solution for you
here are a few things you can try. they might not help since you've had this problem long-term but it's worth a shot. just make sure to take the medication an hour before your event on friday (that way it won't wear off before you're done)
-alavert allergy and sinus medication (it's non-drowsy and said to last 12 hours)
-sudafed PE (this works great-i've used it in the past). also non-drowsy
i have severe allergies and asthma so i take Allegra-D daily and i also use a humidifier in my room at nite. i've used the sudafed in the past and it works great so give it a shot.
hope you feel better

I recently had a really bad stuffy nose, it was miserable i couldn't breath when i slept, i could taste what i ate and i was just aggravated by the whole ordeal. What you need to go to cvs and buy a sinus rinse kit, not a saline spray or anything. It comes with a bottle and 50 saline solution kits. It will wash the booger right out of there, it is amazing. You just fill the bottle with 8oz of warm water, with the packet of saline solution, lean over your sink and gently squeeze the bottle of solution up one nostril, til about half of the bottle is gone, then repeat with the other nostril. It sounds unpleasant like getting water up your nose, but it doesn't feel bad at all. And after you can BREATH. Keep up with mucinex or another decongestant to make sure the boogers stop coming and Vic's vapor rub will be more effective after you get all the congestion out, i use the Vic's nose inhaler, it works a lot better and you don't have to rub that junk all over you, i hate that. Good luck. The best saline rinse kit I've seen is Ayr but not all stores carry it, neilmed is also very good.

When I have a stuffy nose I usually use a combination of decongesant nasal spray and Vick's vapor rub. I also apply abhot towel to that area. At night it also seems better when I sit up. I guess this lets the mucus drain out. And youre welcome honey.

Boil Water and put some thyme in the boiling water... give it about 5 minutes and then take a towel and cover your head over the pot ( be careful) and breath deep through the nose until it starts to drip. Take a napkin, blow nose, you're clean and clear... Works everytime.

Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) is the best OTC decongestant. Nasacort generally speaking works well. It can take up to 2 weeks for it to work. You can also try fluticasone (Flonase), and that is off patent.

do you have pain above your eyebrows? and around your cheek bones? if you do, you might have a sinus infection. my dr once did was he took somethink like vicks and rubbed it on the side of my neck, where my sinus drains are, and he said they were clogged with dryied up stuff, and he rubbed and massaged and worked it so it was unclogged. it took a few days but i felt so much better! good luck!

Sudafed. You shouldn't take it however if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, or thyroid condition. You can get it at the pharmacy in most states with your license.
