Injuries - November 2006

Kept clean, held together with bandages, no stitches. Stitches were definitely part of the advise of the doctor, but I decided, not to get them. It was a clean cut, with a box cutter razor. The last cut I had that was this bad took about a month to heal.

Physiotherapy in the form of EMS, passive movement for the wrist, dynamic **** up splint is being administered . The patient is not responding to EMS even at high intensity and wasting is seen in the extensors of wrist. Is surgery the answer after 3 mnths of physio therapy or shd one wait for more time?

Sometimes after I make a wrong movement or finish up a hard work out I still feel pains in my side....not extremely painful, but enough. Is this normal or should I be worried?

I had a puncture wound on my finger where it went through my bone. I had it x-rayed in the ER and then once more for a follow up 4 weeks later at a specialist. During this time, I got off medicaid and now have new insurance. Now, 2.5 months later, my family dr. wants to get more x-rays before sending me to a specialist, who I'm assuming will want to get another set of x-rays. Is this excessive? I don't want to get cancer... you feel me? All this, and I feel like nothing has changed in my bone. I can still move my finger freely(disconnected).

I hurt myself in a scooter accident and my head was bleeding and my leg was hurting somewhat. But two hours later, my shoulder is hurting as well and my leg is hurting much more now. Is it due to the adrenaline rush?

i need help! i don't know if i lost it or if it went inside my eye. is that even possible? this morning, i felt that it shifted from my eye so i tried fixing it by moving it with my eyelids. then it disappeared and my eyes started to hurt. then i realized i wasn't wearing it anymore. i tried looking for it but couldn't and i didn't feel it fall off so i'm thinking it went in my eye. eeeek!!! what should i do?

My father, 67 years old, is having osteoporosis.He had a left hip joint replacement last year, due to a femur head fracture. Yesterday his right femur head broke. He has been already been diagnosed with Osteoporosis. He is also having COPD. Can someone please let me know what medicines to be taken in order to avoid any further progress of the disease and to ensure that he does not get any further broken bones. As he told us, he cannot make out how he falls down. Both the time, he fell on flat ground on the side, with nothing like water to slip on or any other factor that can make someone fall. I am extremely distressed to see this. Can some doctor or others with similar experience please help and advise me? My dad stays in Kolkata (Calcutta), India. If someone can advise on some local center that specializes in such cases, then also it would be of much help.

I was playing football tonight and i went up for a pass and a guys elbow caught me in the throat, i swear it felt like my throat was pushed in to the back. Well anyway it hurts really bad right now, I'm just curious if anything COULD be or IS wrong if I am having a hard time swallowing?

I am in extreme pain. My arm clicks pops and HURTS! My doctor doesn't believe in pain meds. Now they are talking about the trauma unit putting a rod through my elbow! Maybe my bones are not strong enough.

I have apending case, and it doesent seem like my lawyer is doing all that he can to help me! He says that I cant sue for pain and suffering. I want to know if thats true! I am a runner who has been diagnosed with bilateral compartment syndrome in my lower legs. I am currently seeing a specialist, as well as recieving therapy a few times a week. The thing is, I am finding that the stretching and exercises that I have been shown to do feel like they are worsening my injury rather then improving it. Has anyone else ever worked through this injury, and if so, do you have any tips on how to decrease the pain associated with working out/ training/ living!?

My son just uppercut me with his head. I was above him and he jumped up and wham! So now I cant bite down, doesnt hurt as much to open my mouth but I dont know what to do for it to heal, like it feels so freaking bad and I took some ultram but I never had this before and I'm afraid it will be like this for awhile and I'll be screwed. I had a ac 1 and a half years ago. at first i was sore and my neck burned up to my head, then my mouth went numb as well as my fingers. I have a spot where my shoulder blade meets my neck that is still tender when you press on it .Sometimes i have pain that runs down my shoulders to my arms but the fingers are numb and i drop things now i use my palms to hold onto stuff.my neck is numb from that spot up. to my head, lips also numb and my teeth. docs done a mri and said they could not find anything but small white spots on the brain. they said this did not cause numbness everyone has spots on their brain. Something happened in that ac but no body knows what can anybody please give me any answers ? One doc told me to just live this way. He didn't run any test or feel the spot in my neck . last test done 1 and a half year ago.
