How long does it normally take for a deep cut to heal? Say, 1/4" deep on the thumb about 1" long?

Kept clean, held together with bandages, no stitches. Stitches were definitely part of the advise of the doctor, but I decided, not to get them. It was a clean cut, with a box cutter razor. The last cut I had that was this bad took about a month to heal.

to be closed enough that it wont open again, about 10 days.

if those measurements are real... then you need to get stitches.... then it'll heal in about 2 weeks.. without stitches being that deep.. it'll take about 6-8 weeks to heal.. believe me... i used to skate board and ride bmx all the time and wreck and stuff... my wounds were around for months before they healed.

You need stitches. This will promote healing.
