I just smoked a hookah a week ago and I took five whiffs of it. I was in the same room with four other people smoking for a hour.
Will there be any effects of this on my health now?

I have been having episodes of difficulty breathing and dizziness about twice a month for the past year. They only last about 20 minutes and seem to be more frequent in the fall and the summer. My doctor tested me for athsma; there was nothing wrong with my lungs. Then she gave me a perscription for Xanax, thinking I may be having panic attacks, and that didn't do much.
Today I had an episode, and thinking it might be low blood pressure, I decided to use a blood pressure monitor to check. After a few readings on both arms, standing, sitting and laying down, my average blood pressure was about 150/105. (I used the monitor on my boyfriend and it said his pressure was normal, so I don't think it was a misreading.)
I am pretty young to be having any problems with my blood pressure, and usually my readings are fairly normal.
What could be causing all these symptoms together for short periods of time if it's not anxiety?

I've just come back from the pub where I saw non smokers already smirking and also shunning smokers in a big way. As a smoker i think that these people could quite easily cause arguements in the days to come. Plus.... smokers, trying to give up could get quite bad tempered and cause a few more problems in the days to come. Anybody else got views on this?

Hey, I have just completed a 4 year degree in Ireland. This course allows you to work in one of 3 area, as a cardiac technician, respiratory technician and neuro technician. I now work as a respiratory and sleep tech. I was just wondering if there is anyway that I can become a respiratory therapist in either the US or Canada without having to do another degree?

My live in is in the hospital with 5 badly broken ribs and a bruised Lung. They had him on oxygen at a level 6. Late last night his oxygen level fell to 50%. and they had trouble trying to keep him awake. His heartbeat was soaring also. They took him to UIC.
I can't seem to get a straight answer from the nurses as to "why" he dropped as he did.
What is the danger he faced at only breahing at 50%? Although they have now got his oxygen level back, is there any long term effect? He was acting a tad strange today, and I'm not sure if it was my imagination. Sorry spellcheck isn't working, and I'm to tired to think!!

I have been struggling to get a post nasal drip to stop after I had a respiratory infection around two weeks ago. (sore throat, sore chest etc).
Normally, If I have a cold, it disappears totally in around 4-5 days. My trouble is that I do not seem to be able to shake this infection off.
I can go about my day to day tasks at work but have to go to the loo and do a loud nose blow around 6 times per day.
It's faurly thick and clear but with a slight lime colour. I'm also swallowing continually as I just cant deal with it another way in an office.
My energy levels are also not what they should be.
Can anyone offer good advice on what is causing this and what to take to clear it up?
I would prefer not to take sinutab and the like and would like to get to the root of the problem.
I'm taking plenty of vitamin C etc to fight it off but it does not seem to be doing the usual trick.
Thanks to anyone who may have some sensible or professional advice! :-)
