I was curious how much an upper respitory infection can induce the risks of asthmatic attacks? I have both right now, and I noticed my asthma was slightly worse than normal, so I've been trying to think of ways to combat it where I can still be active (excercize induced). I am getting a nebulizer soon, (had one but getting the tubes ect refilled), have my inhalers now, ect, and the doc said its the infection and stumach flu going around. any tips?

Ok, I have posted my health problems seperatly but I want to just put everything together so I can get some answers, advice, or help. Basically I gave birth ten months ago, after two weeks I got sick my dr told me not to take antiobiotics because I was breastfeeding so I didnt however I have never been truly well since then. I have had more colds and whatever was in my chest I guess lingered. In Aug, i smoked a few more cigs then i normally do and I was majorly stressed. I couldnt breathe that well after that I ran to my dr and he said "emphezema" eary stages. I cut down on cigs. However I kept getting the not breathing well symptoms along with fullness, burping and burning and pain in chest. A new dr. said GERD and alittle asthmatic. i didnt take meds because i hate them. However i kept smoking and got worse. I quit a week ago when i couldnt breathe very well and my chest got really tight and painful (cardio tests have been done). I took my inhalor and got alittle better. to be cont..

I am trying to get a friend to stop smoking marijuana because he has asthma but he says it only affects him for a few days and then hes back to normal, but I know that smoke burns and destroys important cilia in your throat, and this damage can last a long time. He says its only like that for cigarettes because they have tar in them but im sure it lasts longer than a few days no matter what. How long does the damage actually last, with and without tar?

Ever since last year, I've been always coughing up bloody sputum or phelgm in the mornings and sometimes during the day. I think it's because the stuff from my nose comes down to my mouth when I sleep and everytime I wake up in the morning, I always have to cough up bloody sputum. I know I always open my mouth while i sleep. so that's probably contributes it. But it's soo annoying, and I got used to it so I have to cough up something while I brush my teeth in the morning. I was just wondering if there is any way to get rid of this bloody sputum. I know I had just days that I didn't have to cough up something in the morning but that was a few years ago.
Also I have congential heart disease, so does that affect it?

thanks in advance

My daughter has asthma. It comes on when she has a cold or an ear or throat infection. I had to give her a liquid steroid last night as she had asthma really badly, the trouble is the steroid makes her so hyper-active, jumping off lounges and running around etc. It drives me crazy because she really needs to rest. I have seen specialists and this is what they all prescribe. She has no dairy or peanuts in her diet because she is allergic to them. What sort of medications do you give your asthmatic child? Are there any new developments I'm not aware of? She also has a daily preventer puffer that has made the attacks less frequent. I would really like some natural remedies if there is any, or diet tips. I hate giving her all these steroidal drugs. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
