Geez man, you need the antibiotics, a kidney infection can lead to permanent renal damage if left untreated. I would not mess about with this one.

I've had a cough since October. The only thing that did anything for me (non drug OR drug) was augmentin. A penicillan deritive.
By no means am I diagnosing you,but you're most likely out of luck if you want to get over this naturally. With a kidney infection and a respiratory infection hitting you all at once? Your body will take months to recover, even with extremely exceptional nutrition.

Hi , well you will HAVE to take your anti-biotics as it sounds as though your kidney infection has spread -NO alternative remedies will cure this and by the weight you,ve lost your immune system has become very weak : if you don,t use your medication you may well end up extermely ill ,causing even kidney failure etc -would you really want to end up on dialysis for the rest of your life ??? Your doctor has prescribed the anti biotics for a reason: use it /them as that,s what they are for!! You say you have recovered from the kidney infection ??? If you had then you wouldn,t be asking such a foolish question!!Remember ,we are lucky to have the healthcare /access to medication in this country ..by the time i,ve written this ,children in the poorest countries will have died through no basic water supply ,etc let alone healthcare/meds !!!

I'd recommend taking the antibiotics. A few days worth of pills or the very real potential of life-long damage to your lungs. If bacteria are growing in your blood, you could be seeding your heart (endocarditis). Weight loss w/ illness lasting this long -- it could be very, very serious. Even life-threatening. This is not unheard of after a kidney infection, either. Seriously, hun, I'd get it checked out. Your body has been unable to kick it on it's own. It might be time to get a measured dose (not a guess from a naturopath) of a proven medicine. Remember, most antibiotics are found in nature, just refined so the risk is lower.

I suggest you have a chest xray to see if you have pnemonia. There are some nasty bugs going around, I had one that the cough lasted for 3 weeks. You need to eat, force yourself, you are making yourself weaker. Good chicken soup will help break up the junk in your lungs. Also, Chamomile tea is good. See a naturopath for natural things to try if you don't have pnemonia. Take some hot baths with lavender oil, that will help open up your broncial tubes and relax you too. Take care.

Not foolish, however if you have had a kidney infection lately it is likely you are in fairly poor health and a bacterial respiratory infection is unlikely to clear up by itself.
I am anti drug too, but i will take antibiotics after giving maybe 2 weeks for something to clear up. normally after that it is definitely required.
I am not a doctor. please go and see your doctor.
