Not enough info. You should be in a doctor's office or an ER asking them. When you get back home, ask me about asthma. I can probably help you with that.

Yes. I have asthma. It could also be the onset of Bronchitis. Everytime I stopped smoking I always got Bronchitis (during too). If you get a dry hacking cough-that's the first sign. Use your inhaler when your chest feels tight and you are having trouble breathing. If that doesn't work go to ER.

Do you have puffers?? If so, it might be time to use it. From what I understand, there is a nice window of opportunity with this medication. IF this window closes, you could get yourself into trouble.
If you'd tried your puffers and are still out of breathe, have you given your puffer a couple minutes to work?? You may need to get yourself to emerg. Perhaps you need an alternate medication. Perhaps your puffer isn't working for you, even though has the potential of working for others, you know?? Don't wait until you turn blue for pete's sake.
Another possiblity: Have you been prescribed any new medications lately. If not asthma, you could be having a serious allergic reaction to any new medication you may have just begun.

Have you tried eliminating dairy from your diet? I suffered my whole life with asthma until I stopped consuming dairy and started taking small doses of natural ephedrine...this is the one I use:
http://www.naturalkiosk.com/proddetail.php?prod=033674000120&cat=47
Also...explore this website:
http://www.mercola.com/2005/nov/8/a_natural_treatment_for_asthma.htm
The first step is BELIEVING that you can and will be well...that you do not NEED meds for the rest of your life...and that you WILL breathe normally again!!!
You'll see!!
I'm very healthy now and there was a time when I could barely get up a flight of stairs without losing my breath....the toxins in dairy are a direct link to breathing problems...also a lack of sunlight and dependency on meds only makes matters worse.
I wish you the BEST !!!!!!!

Oh Yes it is I think so. take a breath from your inhaler that the doctor gave you. Have someone read the directions if after a while 10 minutes then contact the ER because the tightness of the chest doesn't sound that good.

I have asthma and ditched my inhaler for this, pay attention:
1) rigorous exercise opens up bronchials
2) lots of raw garlic, does the same
3) abandon dairy, refined sugars...they're killers.
I haven't had an asthma attack in years because of my changed habits, but I've never smoked. I developed asthma through pneumonia one year.
Good luck...

My son has asthma and so does my husband. You don't have to be wheezing to have asthma. You may either be getting bronchitis or having a mild asthma attack. You may need to consult a doctor and see if they can can treat it.

Individuals of my loved ones have suffered with this, its referred to as paralysed sleep. I've had episodes of it myself and its bloody frightening. Do you may have a partner? In case you do and they are able to learn to comprehend the symptoms all they need to do is touch you and you're going to come out of it. My episodes have been all associated with highly disturbing durations in my lifestyles. I don't know of any scientific support which you could get but i observed that doing a little rest exercises earlier than going to mattress and maybe a heat milky drink do help. When you go to mattress worrying and anticipating an episode then that is the time they mainly arise. Appear and understand the annoying ingredients of your existence and try to work on them. For me studying to loosen up used to be the way i overcame those episodes. I do desire you well, i understand how frightening it may be.

It could be an allergy or if you have fever, an infection in your airways. You should have a follow on check up to determine the real score. Find a doctor specializing in cardio-pulmonary diseases to take the guess work out of what this could be.
