This is serious situation, this can lead to pneumonia (lung inflammation/ infection) and if you don't deep breath enough you could end up with atelectasis (collapsed airways). You need to go a doctor asap. They probably will tell you start deep breathing at least 10 times and hour; if you can't do that they could give you IS= Incentive Spirometer a device to help you deep breath. This will cause the secretions and whatever is in your lungs move up and you should be able to cough out. I am not trying to scare you but you need to take serious action now if it is serious go to emergency room! I hope you get well soon good luck.

Breathe in as deeply as you can through your nose, then expel the air as much as you can through your mouth This sometimes helps get to the problem areas of phlegm, and activates your cough deeply enough to help you get rid of it. However, if you do actually have water in your lungs, you do need to see a doctor.

sometimes docs will give you an inhaler to see if it helps, specailly if you're wheezing. You could try leaning over the edge of a bed, have someone gently 'percuss' your back with an open cupped hand over your lungs, and sometimes that helps bring the 'stuff' up better. Try mucinex, try warm steam, but when in doubt, go get checked!
