The doctors ran all these tests. My fiance came and while I was passed out from all the meds they gave me they told him that I didn't have a blood clot know but it's like I have 1 foot in the grave because I smoke 2 packs of cigs a day, take hormone replacement therapy, but I'm only 29. Can this really be this serious?

I think it's my heart. All I know is that I get really sharp, tight pains on the left side of my chest. It hurts to breathe in... and overall, it feels like something is crushing my heart. Anybody have any suggestions as to what this might be? It's been happening quite often lately.

I am a 40-year-old white female, basically with a normal medical history other than an myocardial infarction (due to a weight loss medication which was prescribed caused) but my catheterization was 100% clean with no blockage with an ejection fraction of 65%. My labs this week, 1 year status post myocardial infarction are: Cholesterol 144, triglycerides 66, FBS 95. I work out 4 times a week and my blood pressure is 110/64. How is it possible to look so good on "paper", but yet I weigh 222 pounds, 5'6? You would think my weight would go hand-in-hand with my labs... Just curious.

I'm 25 weeks pregnant, and all the pregnancy books I've read say that heart palpatations are not good during pregnancy, and to call your doctor if you experience them. Ive been having increasingly uncomfortable palpatations since friday night, and cannot contact my doctor. They only last a few beats, but are now occuring every few hours. do i need to go to the hospital? i cant really afford it unless it is necessary. (the palpatations seem to occur with an unexpected sense of anxiety and lately a lightheadedness)

I have recently bought a Braun battery operated wrist held digital blood pressure monitor to check pressure at home. Many persons say that these digital types are not accurate compared to old conventional mercury type. Then I checked and compared the readings of both types at same time and both gave different readings. Can anyone please advise whether the digital types give accurate readings or not ?.

I am 29 and recently was told i have mitral valve prolapse, and that i have trace regurge in my mitral valve and tricuspid valve. Oh, and apparantly i also have a very loud murmur.
From every website i have looked at, a murmur is usually found in childhood. Why is mine just present now? Why is it that everyone keeps treating this as no big deal? Anyone have any good websites that would explain why i am being diagnosed at 29 with this? Are all of these things truly NOTHING to worry about? I mean, isn't an issue with your heart worrisome in general???

Hi - every since i was 18, whenever I go to the Dr., and the RN breaks out the cuff to take my BP, I feel my heart start to race, and of course, it always turns out that she measures me at ~130/90, sometimes as high as 150/98. I have always just explained it away as white coat syndrome, and the MD has never looked into it further.
My question is, now that I am 29, and this has gone on for over 10 years, I am beginning to wonder if this elevated BP is actually present all the time, and not just while I am at the MD office. How can I tell? Since everytime I see the cuff, my heart starts to race b/c I am nervous about it being high?
