my wife takes it when she feels chest pain coming on...she puts one small tablet under her tongue, the nitroglycerine dissolves instantly and expands her arteries to allow more blood flow,,,she feels warmth throughout her body when she takes it and afterwards has a mild headache that dissipates in a little while..my wife has already had a 5 artery bypass, but has restricted arteries in her neck that the doctors are reluctant to try and open up due to the risk of stroke...

Yes, I take nitro for chest pain. I have 3 stents. I've had 2 heart attacks. Some ppl get a headache, but they don't affect me in that way. If you have or have had chest pain, I urge you to see you doctor or go to the er.

I went to the ER with chest heaviness and chest pain. They gave me 2 nitros and morphine to stop the chest pain.
The nitro 'burned' my tongue and gave my head a 'hot' feeling. Then I got a headache from the drop in blood pressure.
It was only after the morphine that the chest pain went away.

Nitro is taken for angina pains, it will give you an instant head ache, that is normal, how it works is it will enlarge the blood vessels and help supply more blood to the body and relive the angina.
I carry them all the time thankfully I rarely need them.
