Everyone (and all nations) has been touched by cancer in some way. If all goverments add money to a prize-pool and then make that prize available to the first person/team to cure cancer completely, would that work? This could work just like the Ansari space prize. However - the catch - the cure MUST be made available free for all who would need it (and in the public domain). No patents and such! Truly free. Man gets motivated by a prize, competes for it - in a race! The prize could be yours, maybe even in the billions of dollars! Do you think that will inspire/motivate people to get involved? Would that work?

My ex boyfriend's parents and I are very close. We still get together for holidays and what not. They are also the grandparents of my 8 year old daughter. I just found out that my ex's dad has cancer in his gull bladder. He is going into surgery on Dec 11 to have his gull bladder removed. They are not sure whether the cancer has or will spread to the rest of his body. What can I do to bring them some comfort and show support in this time? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :( Thank you

I saw an ENT doc last week and she told me I need a biopsy done on this lump I have under my ear- she said she is not worried about it, and doesnt think its too serious but because it is hard and round and over a cm- it needs to be looked into- and because antibiotics are not taking it away. I am on my second round of antibiotics. My blood work came back fine for my white blood cell count. Do you think because my blood work is fine, it is probably nothing? Has anyone ever experienced this? Finding out they have cancer when there were no other signs? Or bloodwork was fine?

Please be honest!! I am not worried, but I would like honesty- Thanks!

does anyone know if
1.) You eventually die of a temporal lobe tumor even with treatment?

2.) If stumbling when you walk and losing your grip on objects you are holding and dropping them (like your hand seizing up) are features?

3.)If someone had grand mal seizures (which started in their late teens) accomponied by confusion afterwards,Combined with headaches,Stumbling when you walk, losing your grip on objects, nausia, weakness etc would that mean they had a brain tumor (temporal lobe tumor)?

4.)can you have a tumor at any age?

5.)What happens when you have one? Do you get morphine? or live in cancer home until you pop your clogs?

6.) Is one of these types of tumor a terminal illness?

My mother has lung cancer that has metastis to her brain. She has had on tumor removed, but now there is another one and the MRI called it a BLAND HEMATOMA..when I serch Hematoma...all I can find is this is a hemmorage, caused by trauma..So I am confused..Doctor called this a tumor and refered us to someone who does radiosurgery(Gamma Knife) he also said that she was incurable...well if this is a hematoma then this was caused by Whole brain radiation or the brain surgery , and its not a tumor..Does this make sense to anyone? Any experience will be alot of help..thanks

I also had dental work recently, but i have no tooth ache. The reason I haven't gone to the doctor is because I have no health insurance. If this is an infection, what are odds I could fight it off? What are the risks if I try this?

My brother in law was sent to the hospital because of leg swelling and a "ball" in his stomach. He's been there since last night. At this point, from whatever my sister in law can manage to word through tears, is that he has masses in his leg, one in his stomach pushing on his bladder, and in both lungs. She mentioned lymphoma, knows she hear perhaps Hodgkins but isn't sure. (She's really not with it.) They scheduled a biopsy for Friday. Does this seem really advnced? Does it sound like any of the lymphomas? He's had no outward symptoms. Please help!! Any info is appreciated. We are going nuts thinking his survival rates aren't good.

She has been prescribed with steriods which are helping the symptoms and is about to start a really low dose of chemo through tablets. The doctor says this will only prolong her life by months and couldn't say how many if it helps at all. I would appriciate any contact from others in simular situations or those that could offer any advice.
thank you
Claire

It's so sad. He has been battling cancer for over 2 years now. No matter what they seem to do it just seems to keep on spreading. It is now in his spine and he is in constant agony even when he has been given morphine and other drugs more potent than this. He is not even 50 yet and did not smoke or anything else like that - he was really fit and healthy - now he cannot even climb stairs at home without feeling breathless. It is so horrible to watch someone suffer this and there is absolutely nothing you can do to help. I cant even imagine how he must feel. Why does it always happen to the good people...anyone else out there going through this too?
