I am very sorry to say. but Stage IV metastatic malignant melanoma is very nearly 100% fatal. And in a relatively short time, like 3 - 9 months.
Obviously, I don't know the particular details of your friend's case, but optimism for survival would be unrealistic. The end-time can also be quite unpleasant. It would be best if your friend made the best use of what time he has left. There are not too many times when I would say, "Don't give up hope" but this would be one of them.

I don't know of anyone who has had melanoma to start my answer. It is a rare form of skin cancer and the most difficult to treat. stage 4 of any type of cancer is considered to be terminal, but I know of people who are in 5 yr. remission..don't ever give up hope and assure your friend that attitude plays a crucial part of the treatments..Chemotherapy has come a long way in the past few years and if you want to look at someone who has beaten stage 4, then look at Lance Armstrong...his testicular cancer had metasasized to his bones, liver, and brain. He is the poster of miracles. Be optimismistic to your friend and his family and let them know that you are praying for all of them. I know that I will and others who use this forum. Wish you and all of your friends the best and God bless you.

We all need to be optimistic abt this situation that suddenly cme across us .... Be strong.. only God knows.Prayers do a lot of things for us...
Many years ago a neighbor died 2 weeks after being diagnosed of melanoma. i was so young then i cldnt understand why he passed away, what kind of disease it is.
A cousin died a year ago with stage IV , a different cancer .. she did hide it from all of us , her cousin only her immediate family knew abt it. it was very painful when she passed away , that we thought a sudden death.

I read a book by a lady who did, via the Gerson therapy. Juicing and enemas. (What's her life worth?) Gerson info is on the internet. Meanwhile, Waioria zeolites recently saved a friend of mind.
