I saw an ENT doc last week and she told me I need a biopsy done on this lump I have under my ear- she said she is not worried about it, and doesnt think its too serious but because it is hard and round and over a cm- it needs to be looked into- and because antibiotics are not taking it away. I am on my second round of antibiotics. My blood work came back fine for my white blood cell count. Do you think because my blood work is fine, it is probably nothing? Has anyone ever experienced this? Finding out they have cancer when there were no other signs? Or bloodwork was fine?

Please be honest!! I am not worried, but I would like honesty- Thanks!

The lump has been there for months by the way...she said if the biopsy is normal it is probably just a node that I will be stuck with at an unusual size the rest of my life...weird!

Your doctor is correct. Any lump that is hard needs to be investigated. blood does not show everything if it did she would not order the biopsy. If it is something be glad that you caught it early, likely it is simply a node doing its job, try to relax.

Sounds like a keloid which is a scar that don't know when to stop. It is always best to biopsy it just to cover all your bases. The procedure is not painful and doesn't take long. If all your labs are good, then you really don't have a lot to worry about. Get the biopsy done just to be satisfied.

My sister has had a cyst on her wrist for years. She's had it drained, cut out, had biopsy after biospy done on it. No cancer. It's just a cyst. Doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason to it. My grandmother is a cancer survivor. She says your blood work would show something if you had cancer. Of course, she is not an expert, and neither am I. Trust your doctor.

Trust your Dr. & go for it. You are very luck but I think you know that. I have known a number of people who have had moles remove, for safety sake & there was no problems. Just a case of best to be safe then sorry. Take care, & good luck.
