I know she waited too long to be seen, but she finally went to ER last night. After numerous tests, they found a "growth" the size of a football on one of her ovaries. She's 47, otherwise good health, normal weight, good family history, non-smoker/drinker. Could it be cancer? She will have surgery Thursday.

I've been looking up some information on this topic and came across this line on an oncology website "Any patient contemplating reconstruction should recognize that the goal of reconstruction is for a good body image while fully clothed."

Does this mean that when not clothed, the reconstructed breast looks deformed, abnormal, unappealing? What about scarring. The website said they disappear, but would like to hear personal experiences.

Thank you

My husband's mother was given 5-10 years (about a year ago). She had breast cancer 9 years ago. Then last year they found some on her spine.. and then in a shocking night she had a stroke and they found massive amounts of brain cancer (3 golf ball size and one the size of a man's palm.. the doctor told us). They were able to remove it.. but since it had gotten that far they gave her 5-10 years. I heard it can be less than that (my father has worked in the medical field and said that might be generous).

I would ask my father but his mother died of cancer and it's touchy. I can read on the internet what happens medically.. but I'm more interested in the non-medical happenings. What are the signs that the person is dying of cancer? Will their mind go? Body be too weak? Will we know it's happening or one morning will she just not wake up?

If anyone has had a similar experience with these types of cancer please tell me how long it took also.. and the things they noticed...

i have two friends who passed away recently to cancer, one panchreatic (non-smoker, non-drinker) and the other one to brain cancer. Both of them had healthy, active lifestyles, but both also coincide in having gone through sad famaily tragedies shortly before getting sick. Is there really evidence of the link between cancer and sadness or depression?

During the last twenty years we notice the increase in the incidence of cancer amongst young ladies, kids, middle aged and old aged. The use of Hybrid seeds adulterated food stuff, frequent use of radiation-x rays, scans etc, started around that time. Use of pesticides also increased at the same time. Pollution is increasing beyond anyone's imagination. Have we been mislead by the advertisements to use all these?

My father was just diagnosed with liver cancer a couple of weeks ago, and it is inoperable. I am looking for any possible hope there is. Is there any good treatment centers? Is there anything he can do for himself? He is only 62 years old.
