Yes. The sexually transmitted virus is one of the most common ways to get it, but there are many others besides.

Most types of cervical cancer are caused by HPV, a sexually transmitted disease that quite a few people have. But there are other types of cervical cancer that we don't know the cause of. Given that, it is possible.
However, cervical cancer, much like breast cancer, really doesn't appear until later in life (mid 40s to 50s). By this time most women have married and/or lost their virginity, so...^_^

There was a study done eons ago on Catholic nuns..... it found that though they did indeed get cervical cancer, it was no where near the general female population. Most, but not all cervical cancers are caused by HPV. There is now a vaccine that if given to young girls before they become sexually active, will reduce their risk of that particular cancer by 80% ----- pretty damn good.

It's not only sexually transmitted. You can get HPV (the virus that MAY cause cancer) the same way you get regular warts; skin contact.
Besides, no one knows what really causes cancer so it can happen to anyone at anytime. Look at non-smokers who get lung cancer.

Absolutely yes! You dont have to be having sex to get cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can sometimes be linked to HPV, but not all of it is. Cervical cancer is not an STD.
