No, rape does not cause cancer. Cancer happens when cells in your body mutate and begin to grow out of control and cause problems.

Ovarian Cancer is not (as far as research knows) transmitted by a virus that would be in the semen if she was raped. Like the last poster stated, Cervical Cancer (at least one type) is caused by a virus from the male. That is why Guardasil vaccine is out and it prevents infection from that virus.

Although much about the cause of ovarian cancer is still not known, it is linked primarily to diet (our western high fat diet, etc.), not having enough kids/ovulation (that is why those who take birth control for longer periods of time or have more kids are less likely to get it), stress (well it doesn't cause it but has been recently shown to make it grow much faster), and age (often over 60).

Cancer cannot be caused by an event, it's a mutation in the cells of that organ (stomach, bone, liver etc.) What being raped 3 times CAN cause is mental instability and/or pregnancy.

The type of cancer that your friend may be referring to is cervical cancer, which is caused by untreated HPV, a sexually transmitted infection. Ovarian cancer has no connection to rape or any sexual act.
