I have lived a very blessed life. Really, the only big losses I've had to deal with is the death of several grandparents. There are day to day dramas ~ things that at the time seem huge. But they all pale *greatly* compared to this.
She had her first appt. last week (we had all just thought maybe she had growing pains), and is now in a hospital 4 hours away, on chemo. Initially, it was believed to be just in her knee. Today, they discovered several other places.
My friend is very strong emotionally, but this is tearing her apart! And I totally understand that. But I don't have a clue what I can possibly say or do. Aside from saying "I'm here if you need me for ANYTHING, or if you just want to talk." This is her only child.
Has anyone else gone through similar situations and can give me ideas?

With all we know about smoking today, why do you continue to smoke? Is it because you haven't really given much thought to what your life might be like when you're 50, 60, or older? If you have children, have you considered the fact that they likely might be burrying you before they're 30 years old? Are you convinced you'll never have grandchildren that you'd like to see grow up? I just really still can't figure it out. If you can convince me with logic and common sense that you're smoking is a good thing, you get best answer.

This happened after her 4th chemo, instead of her 3rd (4th it was down to 125). So is 25 (in the normal range) good? I'm wondering what happens next besides chemo and if in general you start to 'get better' as crazy as that sounds (i.e., she can eventually get out of the hospital now).

Sometimes I think I will just lose my mind if I find out one more person I love or know has cancer. My Grandma was diagnosed with Breast Cancer years ago. She fought it and had it beat! She was later diagnosed with lung cancer and found the breast cancer was back.

My Dad was diagnosed with Maligment Melenoma and CLL (chronic lympnopa luekema) last year. He is currently on Interfrom for it, and goes for his end of the year test this month to see if it worked! I have all the faith in the world it did and I know he will beat this!

On March 4, 2006 I lost a dear loved one to cancer. She would have made the best mother in law in the world. She didnt deserve the suffering she went through.

I have a friend I went to school with, a dear friend, who is only 23 find out she has cancer. So many people I live around have cancer.

How do you continue to have hope and faith when you feel like there is nothing you can do but pray? How must they feel if I feel this way?

My Dad just finsied up his year long treatments of Interferon for his Melenoma. He goes for his PET scan this month. And I am hopeful for the best of news!

Has anyone been on Interferon? My Dad has triple the amount an average person would get. And I just wonder what your results of taking it were? Was it good? Did it work?

My dad's bloodwork results came back today and i was reading that it said his PSA level was 1083.6 and that the normal range was < or = to 4.0. Can anyone explain to me what this means? The GP has not explained everything to him yet, he wants him to go see a urologist. But could someone just tell me, does this mean it is cancer? And if so, is it pretty bad since the PSA level is so high?

I went today to get my test results and I really don't understand, I will be seeing my Dr. on Friday but for now I am very confused. Please Help.
The bottom line is this," No specimen can be identified in the specimen container. The specimen container will be filtered."

Does anyone know what that means other than they screwed up?

My relative was recently diagnosed with cervical cancer, and I have been looking ofr treatments. I don't really need a webpage about it, since I've found plenty of those, but I do need treatments that have worked of people whom you personally know.

Aside from surgery (hysterectomy), radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, what treatments are there? Any breakthrough techniques that are minimally damaging to her? I know her survival odds are slim, since she's 86 years old, but I would like to do everything possible to help her.

If you have any success stories or successful treatments (doesn't matter which country or which type of approach), that would be very helpful.
