I know someone who was recently diagnosed and I was wondering what occurs in this tage, what it means and how it is treated.

CIN 1 isn't the same thing as cervical cancer. CIN 1 is a stage 1 (noninvasive) cervical intrepithelial neoplasia and the treatment depends on the type and extent of the abnormal cellular changes. CIN 1 lesions often regress and simply require monitoring and follow up at this stage.
