I have never had any food allergies or intolerances in my life, but recently, I have really cut down on my dairy simply because I like the taste of soy products better. A few days ago, my friends and I went out for ice cream and my stomach began to rumble and cramp, and it didn't go away until hours and hours later. could i have developed some kind of lactose intolerance over the months that I haven't been eating much dairy?

Whenever I eat peanuts, or pretty much any other nut in general, the back of my tongue starts to swell up a little, my throat becomes scratchy and the back of my mouth becomes irritating. Is this a nut allergy? Does anyone else get the same symptoms when they eat nuts?

Hello,

I was just given a platinum ring from my girlfriend as a present which I like alot. I just have some questions before I go venturing off and doing stuff with the ring on my finger.

First off, can I shower with this ring or do I have to take it off everytime? (It has something engraved on the inside, possibility of trapped bacteria?)

Second, if I wash my hands for example do I have to take it off each time?

Third, Should I wear it to sleep? (I would like to since it's easier just leaving it on than taking it off and on y'know.)

Fourth, how can I clean it lets say if I get some dirty substance on it?

That's all the questions I could think of that were boggling my mind at the moment, I will post some more if I think of any more. If anyone has any other tips or suggestions on what I should do please say! I do not want to get some kind of allergic reaction and not be able to wear this!

Thank you all, godbless.

Hi everyone, hope someone can help here.

I got married in July and since wearing my wedding ring I'm having real problem with an allergy to it. My finger underneath is very itchy and red, and this morning it is almost raw. I've tried to make sure that my finger is dry after washing my hands etc, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Sometimes it turns black underneath too, but that doesn't seem to be related to when I have a flare up.

Does anyone know if there might be some sort of coating I can have put on the inside of the ring to help this? It is also engraved inside so I'm cautious that that wouldn't be spoiled by this.

Oh, I should mention it is 14ct white gold. My engagement ring is 9ct white gold but I've never had an allergy to that. It also has never turned my finger black underneath.

I've been allergy tested to death and react to nothing except the control allergen. My doc says that 90% of the time they never find a cause for the hives, but 90% of the time, they go away on their own within 5 years.

He gave me a topical cream to use, but geez, sometimes I'm covered from head to toe! And of course the more I scratch, the more the hives spread.

Anybody have any natural or herbal remedies to ease the itching of hives?

My eyes get very swollen the following night if I have cried the day before. So swollen, that I look like I have suffered an elergic reaction to something. My eyelids more than double in size and it is not like normal puffyness after a good cry.

I woke up yesterday with this swelling. I could not breathe through my mouth although I could still breathe through my nose. I immediately went to the emergency room. They suspected an allergic reaction. Treatment rendered was epinephrine spray and this reduced the size about 2/3. I was also given a steriod shot (medrol). I just did blood work for a full series of possible allergens...any thoughts???

In all the years that I've been using nose spray due to allergies , I saw a warning label that said For The Nose Only back 6 months ago. The label was on the actual bottle itself and not on the outside of the box where all labels used to go, it made me laugh like duh!

I took him to the allergist and he wanted to hold off on the testing, and then the hives went away for a couple weeks. They have since come back here and there. Has anyone had experience with this? I don't want to have him tested if it's not necessary, although I cannot attribute these hives to anything he's eating or drinking. One time I thought they came out after I gave him Motrin, so I stopped giving him that. They came back once since then. HELP please!

...and my nose is at all times completely or partially stuffed up. Knowing that the nasal cavaties and glands run all over you face and head... I was concerned specifically about the two glands that are located at the base of your head where your neck meets.

Every few months or so, the gland on the left hand side will feel a little swollen and will be extremely painful... almost like a bruise.

My question is:
a) what is causing this to swell and hurt so badly?
b) should I be concerned about this? I've always attributed this to a side effect from allergies... but could it be worse???

Thanks for your help.

"Back in the Day", (1950's & 60's), when I was in school, we would have been appalled if some kid had said they were allergic to peanut butter. One of my brothers had asthma, and he was the only one I ever knew in 12 years of school. Out of a student body of about 500, we had one girl who had diabetes, and her parents both had it. So, my question is: why are so many allergies, autism, diabetes, so common in today's grade school kids?
Obesity is said to be one cause of the diabetes increase, and I understand that TV, Video games, and computers are big contributors to the obesity plague, but what's up with the rise in all these other problems ?
Measles, Mumps, and Mono', we're pretty much a given back then, all kids had them, and sometimes a lot of us had them at once, but I think we were much healthier in general than today's kids are, So,..What's up ?
