Am I the only person in the world allergic to blue no. 1 coloring that is found in some foods?

Karrie: Certainly you can be allergic to any food dye or additive. It is actually quite common, but many people don't make the association.
The reactions can vary from hives and swelling to respiratory distress, digestive upset, and in very rare instances anaphylaxis.
Since you are aware that blue dye is a trigger, read labels carefully to avoid this agent. Each exposure increases your sensitivity, and thus the reactions will continue to be progressively more severe.
