You should always follow up with you doctor 24 hours after going to the ER. He needs to have a thorough exam and allergy tests to determine if it is in fact allergies. It may not be allergies at all and may need further treatments.

It worse not worser. anyways if you took him to the hospital and they found the reason for the fever then the fever is not dangerous. But if he is not improving from the meds they gave him then you need to take him to his family doctor because the e.r can only do so much, his regular doc. can tell what is going on a little better and maybe prescribe something different.

A high fever and chills for five days is long for most viral infections. Unfortunately we cannot assess the eye swelling on Answers. That is what worries me. Could it be periorbital cellulitis? If his fever continues or eye swelling persists, get him to a doctor ASAP.

Bath him in luke warm water, try to get his temp down. Alternate tylenol and motrin throughout the day insead of just motrin and just watch him, keep taking his temp, if it goes above 104 he needs to go back to the ER but this should help bring it down, give him TONS of fluids, pedalite, water, anything. Hopefully it's just a bad virus and it'll clear up soon, but monitor him closely. I work in a dr's office and alot of weird things have been going around, but it seems go go away in about 5-7 days.
