I took him to the allergist and he wanted to hold off on the testing, and then the hives went away for a couple weeks. They have since come back here and there. Has anyone had experience with this? I don't want to have him tested if it's not necessary, although I cannot attribute these hives to anything he's eating or drinking. One time I thought they came out after I gave him Motrin, so I stopped giving him that. They came back once since then. HELP please!

What we do know is that hives are allergic reactions -and can
come from numerous sources. It is nearly impossible to
guess the source. If this is frequent you will need to have your child tested. My oldest started with hives and then ended up
with asthma, it would be nice to find out the trigger before it comes out in another way. Good Luck.

Robin - HAVE HIM TESTED. Hives is a form of anaphylactic shock -a very serious reaction to an allergy. PEOPLE DIE FROM THIS REACTION.

Agreed, have him tested. There has to be someone out there who can or will do this for your son.

Is there a chance that he is perhaps allergic to dust or mold?

Good luck!
