Why is there a huge campaign to stop smoking, but not one against tanning? It's surprising how there are no commercials advising that tanning causes cancer. You can tan without having to see a picture of melanoma on the tanning bed. You can go to a tanning bed at any age. People go outside without sunscreen all the time. Think about it......you can't buy cigarettes until you are 18. You cannot smoke underage. People go to great lengths to avoid second hand smoke. I know many women who don't smoke and claim to be healthy.....yet they are so tanned they look like shoe leather. Why is smoking so reviled, yet tanning is still considered beautiful? The risk of cancer is present with both habits, and melanoma is just as terrible as lung cancer. They are thinking of giving an R rating to movies that portray smoking as glamorous.....are they also going to give R ratings to movies that portray tanned women as beautiful?

Understand that the vagus nerve is not retransplanted after transplant and so Atropine would be useless in symptomatic bradycardia. But what stops the heart from beating faster and faster if there is no parasympathetic innervation to slow it down? Is this something to do with its intrinsic regulation where it does not need signals from the brain to make it beat? Is this the same as "heart brain"? Isn't the heart exposed to unopposed stimulation by sympathetic nerves if the vagus nerve is missing?

Is it possible to feel heart fluttering not only on the left hand side, but that it 'spreads' to the middle or right-hand side of the chest? I am sure that it isn't a case of muscle twitching and it is discomforting. I am 28 years old, lower end of normal weight, and not on any long-term medication.

I have to wear ear plugs, but still get woken every night by the noise. I sometimes have to sleep on the settee to get some rest... He can't breathe through his nose at all, and suffers alot from sinus problems.( He's tried a watch-like device that gives you a small electric shock when the snoring reaches a certain level, and at first it seemed to help, but now it's worse than ever) Any advice would be welcome, as I can't stand it anymore...........

I am a diabetic that is currently using an insulin pump for my diabetes management and I have insurance but the insurance that I have does not cover the extra costs with the pump supplies, which is huge. I am not the only one with this issue I am sure. My fear is that I will have to stop using the insulin pump because of the cost which will take away the one thing that has made me feel like a normal person again or as close to as can be. I feel that there are companies making huge amounts of money from the people that have diabetes whom have no other choice but to make them richer because if they don't they die, there just seems to be an imbalance there. So please if there is any one out there that might have any ideas that can be done with this unfair imbalance of the american way.

What have your experiences with radiation tattoos been like? I have them on my neck and chest, and some people are rude enough to ask if it's dirt or a zit. It kind of angers me. Have you had them removed or covered up with a real tattoo? Have you had anybody be rude about them? Where are they (the tats, not the rude people)?

I have food allergies, and react, sometimes quite badly, to a LOT of foods, as well as a lot of airborne allergens. I take Loratadine (Alavert, to be exact) every night, but I was wondering if anyone knows if it's okay to take something like a Benadryl if I have an allergic reaction to something during the course of the day?

Recently i noticed a large lump on one of my testis. It doesnt hurt at all. I'm scared to believe it may be cancer. Now i suffered a torsion about 4 months ago but it was the other testi. I had minor surgery and everything went fine. I was able to keep both testis, none had to be removed from the surgery. Now i noticed the lump. The lump is pretty big but i dont know if its a result from the surgery or cancer and the lump is not hard, it seems to be pretty soft. Also with the surgery they performed 3 different ultrasounds so i'm thinking, wouldnt anyone have noticed it if it was indeed cancer? Also it does not seem to sort of "in" my testicle. When i touch it, it seems i can like slide it around on my testicle but once i stop it goes right back to its normal position. Does anyone have info that could help me out? And how big are the lumps that are associated with cancer? Thank you for the help and please contact me or respond to this question if you have any answers.
