My husband does the same thing. Snores then stops breathing. I wake up and nudge him if he doesn't start to breathe . He has terrible allergies twelve months out of the year and is on allergy meds. The problem with his breathing only happens when he sleeps on his back. He could have sleep apnea. I know there are clinics where a person can go to be evaluated over night. Ask your husbands doctor to investigate a sleep clinic and then they will know what to do from there. Has he seen a ear , nose, and throat specialist? If not that is another avenue. Good luck to both of you.

Has he ever seen an Ear, Nose, and Throat specialist for his sinuses? Maybe there is something going on in there that a simple surgical procedure can fix. He stops breathing too. Sounds like he has sleep apnea. That doctor should be able to get him into a sleep study to see how bad that is.

It sounds to me like he has sleep apnea. You should have to go to a doctor so they can run sleep tests on him. Chances are, he's going to get a machine with a small mask to take home & use every night. The point of this machine is to force air into his nose to his lungs, keeping the nasal cavity open, stopping the snoring (for the most part), and since it's forcing the air, he won't stop breathing anymore.

Hi, Has he ever had his nose broke? There is an operation you can have to open up the sinus cavitys. My Husband snores quite loudly and sometimes I hear his breathing stopping and starting, scary. He used a throat spray once bought at a local Chemist, and it seriously reduced the noise of the snores, kind of stopped it halfway through. Try it.

Have him go to the doctor to have a sleep study done. They'll watch him sleep for a night and hook him up to monitors and things like that. They'll diagnose him, and prescribe some kind of treatment. Sometimes, people get prescribed a breathing mask, machine type of thing that they wear when they're sleeping. From what I've heard, it really really works for some people.

I agree, it sure sounds like Sleep Apnea. Go to your doctor and have testing down as soon as you can . I wear a CPAP at night. It has greatly improved my breathing and my snorning. It may be his answer.

tell him to go and see his doc he might be suffering from sleep apnia.thats what its called when you stop breathing in your sleep.he will be sent to a sleep clinic to moniter his breathing(not painful) they will wire up his head and watch his sleep pattering on a monitor.if he has got sleep apnia he will be fixed up with an air machine which helps him breath,he will have to wear a face mask.just think that should stop him snoring.
