The initial treatment for a SLAP shoulder lesion is:
ice
rest
anti-inflammatory pain medications (ibuprofen, aleve, etc)
cortisone injections, if pain is severe

This is followed by stretching and strengthening exercises often in the form of physical therapy.

If pain continues after physical rehab, then surgery is the only option.
