I work at a daycare/preschool (ages 2-12) with 2, 3 and 4 yr. old classes and the school age kids are there before and/or after school. Most of the kids are artsy and enjoy coloring and drawing and I'm always trying to find different projects for them to do and I'm thinking of starting a scrapbook for them to help create, Having them each make an "about me" page and maybe bring in a photo, and then make a few pages however they want. I don't know if this would be a good idea, I'm not sure they'd be that interested, and I'm worried they might fight over the book. What do you think?

I am not a coin collecter but I think that I may have a valueable "wheat back" penny, dated 1944 D. How can I find out, without going through "HELL-N-BACK", just to find out what it may or may not be worth?

I have a 1941 Lincoln wheat penny. When you turn the penny over, the wheat side is upside down. is this penny worth anything? I have looked at new pennies, and when you flip over the penny, the back of the penny is in the same upright position as the front side. Not on mine however.

I like to do needlepoint and have gotten pretty good at it, and collected so many beautiful painted canvases and unusual threads. I've always filled the whole picture in with various types of stitches, but sometimes it seems like it might look better to just 'decorate' some of the areas with fancy threads and beads - because the canvas itself looks nice, or because certain shapes in the design might get slightly distorted if completely covered. I wonder if anyone has experimented this way, and how it would look, or if there are any websites with examples and ideas?

I ahve a hard time describing spatial relationships, bt i would really like to know if this is possible. I want the colors to show up in rows, but to continue them around so that there is an outside and an inside, not a front and a back.

Does anyone know what sizing the Dutch use for their knitting needles? I'm assuming that it's metric (in mm) like we use now, but not sure.
Thanks

Looking for some advice from people who have worked with paper mache and can offer solutions beyond the basics. This is for a hot air balloon spinning prop for Halloween. The hot air balloon portion will be the only thing made of the paper mache (it will be attached to a basket holding a black cat). I have a 48" beach ball to work with and I want it to look like a giant jack-o-lantern. I want the balloon to be semi-transparent (I want to make it glow with LED lights or a flickering battery-operated jack-o-lantern light in it). What materials can I use to acheive this: orange tissue paper, construction paper, or paint it? How can I make it smooth and what type of paste can I use to make it sturdy/not rot. Is there a specific product I can get instead of a flour/glue solution? I'm trying to keep it light-weight enough for a spinning motor to carry it. If not I can just hang it. The most important thing is that it will glow, look smooth, and not mold so I can use it next year. Thanks!
