I work at a daycare/preschool (ages 2-12) with 2, 3 and 4 yr. old classes and the school age kids are there before and/or after school. Most of the kids are artsy and enjoy coloring and drawing and I'm always trying to find different projects for them to do and I'm thinking of starting a scrapbook for them to help create, Having them each make an "about me" page and maybe bring in a photo, and then make a few pages however they want. I don't know if this would be a good idea, I'm not sure they'd be that interested, and I'm worried they might fight over the book. What do you think?

If you are going to use glue you had better find a way to get it off them and their clothes before starting this project. If you are going to use staples keep an eye on their little fingers.

Quick thought...a 3-4yrs old preschool teacher in my area made mini scrapbooks for each student in her class. She took full use of simple embellishments and layouts were the same for the mass produced books and I have to tell you they were absolutely adorable. I don't know why you could follow suit and just the get kids involved. She took pictures at every fun event throughout the school year and coordinated a page for each. (pj day, Halloween, backwards day, thanksgiving dinner reenactment, Christmas program, valentines day, just a photo with a particular art project, etc...) Every parent I know LOVED it. The teacher passed them out at the end of year party aka graduation.

I think your idea is great and really creative. Maybe you could even get a parent/scrapbooker to lend a hand with the process.

Yes! I think it would be wonderful! We do class scrapbooks and 4 H does scrapbooks here- made by the kids. I don't know about 2 year olds, but 4-12 are perfect! Go for it!

Anything to do with arts and crafts and kids is a good idea. Have them put their hands and feet (of course, at different times) in paint and then on the paper. They can draw a reindeer, make a flower pot, make a turkey and other fun stuff. Have them do one at the beginning of the year, and one at the end of the year to see how much they have grown. It would be best to have them do one to take home. Maybe you can do 2, let them take one, and you keep one. I believe all kids would love to do something to give to mommy and daddy. What a wonderful idea!

I think it's a great idea. We did mini scrapbooks with the kids at vacation Bible school this summer and every age group loved it. You can do it pretty inexpensively with little kids. Magic Markers and stickers make them very happy!

Why not have them each make their own, of construction paper pages stapled together as a book? They could make their own embellishments from old greeting cards and magazine pages.
