I have a $10 note with the number AA99992007. Seems freakish as all other notes i look at seem to have real random numbers. Does this mean anything?

The number you have has to come up sometimes just as 123456789 shows up also. there are collectors out there that do collect notes with such serial numbers as you have. You just have to find them or a paper currency dealer who specializes in them. It also could have been a special run, for here in the U.S. some notes were specially made for collectors with the serial numbers ending in 2005. you need to find out who you contact in NZ about their notes. You can try a bank there first. Use Google.

Serial numbers on the NZ note and many other banknotes of the world are chiefly for accounting and to deter counterfeiting. They also serve as a device to trace crimes such as robbery of money from bank safes, robbery of cash transport vehicles or kidnaps. The serial number AA99992007 of your $10 is just a nicer combination, nothing special.
