Followed the recipe but a 1/2 cup of salt in about a 1/2 gallon of water resulted in a very salty crisp, almost irresistable pickle.
Can I reduce the salt and not die of food poisoning?

I usually have chicken or beef, a side of veggies, and a roll or muffin of some sort for dinner. I am tired of having the same old stuff. Does anyone have any good Puerto Rican or other ethnic type family recipes that they want to share? I love that kind of food but I have never really made anything besides tostones.

I always got them from the co-op and now they don't sell them. Waitrose is sold out (I have 3 weeks before I leave the country and they sure won't have them in Tajikistan) Tesco, Somefield etc no good. I live in West Oxfordshire, but I think maybe I have to go mail order. (have tried chinese supermarket in Oxford too) Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
