If you have never eaten Greek food, go to a Greek restaurant first and let the waiter know that you want to experience Greek food for the first time with the intention of making things at home. They will be glad to help you choose from the menu things that you could make at home. It's best if you have tasted the food before trying to make it yourself.

I enjoy spanakopita, it has spinach, onion, egg, cheese -- a lot like quiche.
I also enjoy the pasta dishes. Greek restaurants often have Italian type dishes like eggplant or chicken Parmesan (eggplant or chicken, marinara sauce and spaghetti)
My favorite meal to get is Greek potatoes, cheese-garlic bread, and Greek salad. A Greek salad has lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, kalamata olives (a flavor cross between black and green olives), pepperoncini peppers, bell pepper, and feta cheese. Greek potatoes can be white or red. I prefer the "red" ones. They have cooking juices made with tomato sauce and are very tangy.
The recipe for spanakopita is below.
Baklava is a pastry made with phyllo dough, honey, and almonds. I'm allergic to almonds so I never get it.
I prefer the Italian desserts offered. They generally will have tiramisu and/or cannoli. Tiramisu is made with lady fingers dipped in a coffee liqueur or espresso, mascoparne cheese, and sometimes cocoa. Recipes below. Cannoli are pastry tubes filled with a blend of ricotta cheese, sugar, and usually cocoa and/or miniature chocolate chips. Recipes below.
Greek food offers lamb on skewers with tzatziki sauce. Recipe below. The sauce is made with cucumbers and yogurt, so it is very tangy. Gyros are like pita sandwiches with lamb or other meat and the tzatziki sauce.

Well..You can try making a Greek salad. The main ingredients are: tomatoes, kalamata olives, feta cheese, coriander leaves, parsley, etc. It's easy to make & at the same time it's healthy. You just mix the ingredients, & that's about it. :)

the two solutions you purchased so some distance are the perfect. when I make Dolmades i exploit floor lamb. maximum eating places use beef, consisting of Greek eating places (pass discern). a splash time ingesting yet relaxing and intensely, very solid. Use sparkling lemon. the 2nd spanikopida (sp) is one among my faves of all time. it is form of prosperous with the butter yet very solid. this may be somewhat extra time ingesting yet once you be attentive to you are going to have a brilliant dish once you're accomplished it is properly worth it. Get the spanikopida recipe from Tyler Florence on the food community. have relaxing. Bret

Here is my favorite dish to make that is Greek-
KOTA LEMONATI
Sautéed chicken breast with fresh mushrooms, artichokes, basil and
tomatoes, served with rice.
I´m making this tonight, and serving a cucumber, basil, olive oil, and tomato salad with feta cheese(if I go to the grocery again today). If not, I´ll leave off the cheese.

Baklava - phillo dough layered with butter, honey, and nuts
Spinikopita - phillo with spinnach and pine nuts
Calimari - fried squid
Red peppers stuffed with cheese - very yummy
Kabobs are also wonderful
Olive topanodes are great - ground olives, olive oil, cheeses, herbs, great on toast or pitas or as a marinade.

i love greek salad and pita bread,, the salad consists of vinegar ,salt, cucmbers, mostly the same ingredients of a regular salad but extra kick to it, the pita bread is just a simple bread substance flattened and baked.
