As a scientist, I understand and enjoy Metric measurements. We were given an Australian recipe and a table with columns for US, Canadian and Australian for the purpose of conversion. Why on God's green earth is there a DIFFERENT conversion factor for Australian Metric?

Isn't Metric, by definition, consistent? I am so confused. And based on the table, it is non-linear, which makes no sense in the world. Please help explain!

I want to know WHY, don't just tell me it is, or question the authority of the cookbook please. Here is a web site, there are numerous other if you Google search. http://www.kitchenproject.com/equivalencies/metric.htm - this table is similar to the one in the cookbook. Note that it *seems* 1 aus-Kilo = 2 US/Uk/Imperial pounds, with major weirdness in rounding for fractions thereof. And why or how did this happen?

Does anyone remember the clear drink we used to have in the 90's? It came in a Clear plastic can and had green or orange jelly balls floating in it.
Would love to know it's name

Hi people. I need a little help for my coursework on milk. Can anyone think of any other problems related to milk other than:
-high in fat
-lacks in iron/vitamin c
-allergies such as lactose intolerance

I have looked on the internet and I cannot find any others. Anybody got any other ideas. Thankyou!!!

I wrote a note the other day extolling the virtues of Maria's Home Made Country Fare, in Greenbrier, Arkansas. I did not advertize this store... I merely said that the food was wonderful.
Someone took exception to my post and yahoo deleted the post. I took a look at the guidlines and found none of the rules had been violated. I guess the coward that complained is too cowardly to come forward to admit that they were the one responsible. Some hours later, I took a look at the the replies, and would you believe...there were a few responses from folk who were as surprised as I was about Maria's cooking. nuff said..

I dont think there is but I want to make sure I have been given some pills by my Doctor and I dont *need* to take them they say they contain lactose and I dont want to have them if they dont go with my values of veganism. Could it be some synthetic type? What should I do. I will be fine if I dont take them, but I want to nkow if I can.

I am doing a project about French cuisine during the Middle Ages, specifically 14th-16th centuries. I need an easy recipe or even better, something I can go and buy that would be appropriate for this time period. I'm not really able to cook anything so I more need an idea of what I could purchase!
