i am doing a quiz the first prize is 50 pounds which i am giving to the alzhiemers socitey if i win it thanks harobed xxxx

Are you sure of that price, because I remember that a pint of mild beer was only 11d in May 1960 and I think bitter was about 1s2d

I worked in a bar in 1966 and a pint of best beer was 1/11d. So, it is unlikely that a pint cost as much as 1/3d during the second world war. Try watching Goodnight Sweetheart if possible, as some scenes are set in a bar during the latter period and they do ask for actual money when serving drinks.
