Whenever I go for a long period of time without any rice in my diet, I crave it. I've lived all over the country and found that people in other regions don't eat rice as part of other dishes the way we do in New Orleans.

I saw them years ago at Restoration Hardware, looked like a little jewelers tool with a grapple hook thing on the end for picking up olives.

My friend's beloved spoonrest was broken by my significant other. I am trying to replace it (The spoonrest, silly, not my S.O.) Does any one know where I buy or have a spoonrest made in the shape of a cucumber or pickle. I have checked at Bed, Bath, & Beyond; Linens & Things; Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, Dollar Stores, Walgreens, etc. I just don't know where else to look. Can any one help me out? Thanks

I have a tall water bottle with a hole on top for insertong a straw. Regular straws are too short. They fall in. I need at least 9" or preferably, 10"-12"

Where can I purchase longer straws? I don't want to have to buy a gazillion boxes.

Thanks,
Michael

Ok, I soaked the beans all night. This morning, I dumped most of the water out and put more water in. I started to cook the beans, and put some salt, pork strips and pepper in. They cooked like that for an hour or two. But they are still a little hard and dry! Any great ideas??

I am getting my own place (this is the first time that I will be out on my own), and I'm buying all of the essentials for my apartment. I bought cookware today and found these really great looking utensils. The cookware is non-stick, but the utensils are stainless with no coating. Will the utensils scratch the coating off of the pans?

I've been drinking soy milk for years, but recently read it's bad news (too processed). Anybody else heard this? Anybody drinking almond milk? If so, which brand?
