....you know, when someone just doesn't get it. Do you give up or keep trying to break it down until the light bulb comes on?

My grandfather (mom's dad) died yesterday unexpected. He was only 68. My mom is so totally not herself, like she has been lying in bed crying for 2 days! I loved my grandfather but he lived 3 states away, so really I have only seen him a few times in my life.
Although I did love him I can't really feel the pain that my mom must feel. I have tried to comfort her but evertime I do she grabs me and starts crying on my shoulder and saying that we kids (me and my sister and brother) take our dad for granted, and we should never take him for granted.
This depresses me because all of us kids have a decent relationship with the both of our parents but sometimes we just don't really show it outwardly.
So why does my mom turn her grief into something unbearable for all of us? I think my mom is using this as a reason to feel sorry for herself and the same time make all of us miserable. I would like some advice...thanks

On Friday, there was an all day conference my daughter attended for 7th & 8th graders. Near the end of the day, my daughter went to pick up her ID card which had fallen to the floor. She was told by a counselor to pick up a cell phone which was near the ID card. My daughter picked up the cell phone and placed it on a table nearby.
At the end of the day, all the girls (70 of them) went to gather their bags to leave. One girl, Nubia, from the 8th grade noticed her phone was missing. The counselor said, "Oh Skylar picked it up". Nubia then went to Skylar, who said she had placed it on the table. But when Nubia went to look, it was gone. Nubia then accused Skylar of stealing the phone, which Skylar denied. At this point, one of the teachers searched my daughter's clothing and bag, which were of course empty. No one apologized to her after this.
This experience has her avoiding school since the 8th graders were nasty and accusatory even after the search. How would you handle this?

I posted a while back about my mom seeing this guy much younger than her (he's 27) soon after my dad passed away. It's now been three months since my dad died and I have recently received information from other members of the family about this guy. I live 600 miles away so I'm not as involved with my mom's life. Anyway, I guess they say he is violent, drunk, controlling, and using all of my mom's inheritance from my dad's insurance policy. He is also listed on Megan's Law website for molestation of a child and just got out of prison May of this year for this charge.

My mom will not listen. She has admited to having sex with him (and broke down crying) and of being frightened by him on some occasions, but says that he isn't drinking anymore, and that people can change. She refuses to admit she gives him money and keeps lying to me. Even if I can't do anything for her (which I can't, she is screaming and cussing everyone out and won't talk to my sis now), what can I do for myself?

effort to come and collect us from the airport.

I am flying very soon and my fiance has been delayed with work and wont be arriving back in the Georgia until a few weeks after I get there. I have asked his parents to come and collect us from the airport but it seems that is too much trouble and they are not going to come. Yes, it is about an hour and a half drive, but thats nothing to the 24+ hours travelling that we are doing to have a family Christmas.

Should I just not bother and have my fiance come to Australia for Christmas or should I just go and play nice so that they can have their son and only grandchild there for the holidays?

Do you think they dont like me maybe? Im white Australian, my fiance and his family are African American. I really didnt think they had a problem with me but actions tend to speak louder than words.

What do you think their problem is? Or am I expecting too much of them to drive to the airport?

I am interested in possibly driving with the laidlaw bus company as an option to returning to work when my maternity leave is finished. I'm trying to work part-time as opposed to full time so I can be home as much as possible with the little one for a few years at least. What kind of health benefits are available to the drivers? As part of my decision will obviously be based on whether or not I will give up my present job where benefits are available. Looking for the information on all options before I make a decision.

And the next step is to ask her to marry me and boy am i nervous as a midget at a urinal i mean just to be near her i get all sweaty and my whole body turns to jello but i will let my heart guide me in what i say to my pretty pink rose because i love her with all my heart. So do any of you ever have that feeling around your love?

I always have so much trouble finding a present for my grandma. She's pretty picky about stuff...she has a ton of expensive perfumes and jewelry, but she won't wear things we give her and sometimes returns them. I don't have time to make a gift, either. So she pretty much doesn't like anything, but still expects a gift. Anyone solve this kind of problem before? Any help appreciated! This year I'm especially broke (I'm talking...can't spend more than $30 on each person). Thanks!

Ok this ones tough for me. My fiance and I just bought a house and her mom won't leave us alone. She calls her all the time and takes up my time with her. She tries to invite herself over to our house. I told her she has no business coming over to our house unless we want her to. Then she got smart and had an atitude with me and said she was just worried about her daughter because she was pregnant and she didn't need to be there alone while im at work. I told her thats what a phones for. My fiance told her some stuff but I think she's scared of hurting her moms feelings. She is not coming to our house as much but how do I get her out of my hair? I know she's getting on my fiance's nerves and it makes me stressed and its like it feels like its tearing us apart. My fiance told her we don't need people coming over all the time. she tries to plan things to take my fiance out and go hang out every weekend and thats just too much. I told her to back off and I don't know what else to do.

My brother has had unprotected sex with thousands of different women. He says that he is trying to break the world record for the being the father of the most babies. I think that this practice is very disgusting and dangerous. He has had several std's and already has 90 kids that I know of. Is this against the law?? Is there anything that I can do to stop this behavior or should I just mind my own business?

Hi there,im new here and just want some advice and to find out if this is experience is common or just happening to me.i had issues with my ex's
family either due to my colour, age, but this is a bit different.i'm going out with an older guy.we live together,we love eachother.he's white,i'm black.he's been married twice, has 4 girls, two from each marriage.his kids dont like me.when they come to visit i make the extra effort to make them happy.i take them shopping,i bake them cakes every time they visit,i got the 15yr old some jewelry cos she just had her belly button pierced and a necklace, christmas presents,i talk and advice them like a sister or friend. It gives me plesure to do all this and i wouldn't do this if i didnt like them. His 15yr old had the guts to call him a Paedophile to his face in my precence(i think thats very rude)because he's with me but the ironic thing is her mother is 20 years younger than him but that doesn't bother them.she's now going out with someone 10years younger than her but that doesn't bother them.
they told him they wont come for christmas or ever again if im still with him unless he leaves me.i dont know what to do cos ive not dated a man with kids before and its putting pressure on us and i dont think he's being supportive and it makes me very unhappy and he knows i have my own problems to deal with.all i want is his support,to present a united front or bond to them,
so they will realise that they cant come between us and to stop giving him ultimatims,or stop dictating to him who, what age or kind of woman he should be dating and mind their own business.
they had to deal with it when he got married to his second wife regardless of what they think of her.his eldest daughter doesn't get on with her mother inlaw but that didnt stop them from getting married and i dont make it my business or judge them so i dont know why they should make our relationship their business or prejudge me.what goes on between us two consenting adults in our home is our business
what do you think i/we can do to solve this situation

Is it wrong to buy a really expensive gift for a boyfriend that you were with for 2 years? I mean, is it true that it can jinx you and bring bad luck to the relationship?

I wanted to buy my ex (who pretends that he is my boyfriend) a $600 gift but I don't know if it would be ok since we are not officially in a relationship. ANY ADVICE?????
