I am interested in possibly driving with the laidlaw bus company as an option to returning to work when my maternity leave is finished. I'm trying to work part-time as opposed to full time so I can be home as much as possible with the little one for a few years at least. What kind of health benefits are available to the drivers? As part of my decision will obviously be based on whether or not I will give up my present job where benefits are available. Looking for the information on all options before I make a decision.

I am not a bus driver but a good friend of mine is here in Ontario. I do know that the money they make isn't actually that bad and a lot of it is cash. No benefits for the company he works for but the hours are fantastic, he trains horses and this allows him to do so when done dropping of the kids in the mornings. When his little girls were smaller he would take them with him on his run and they loved it also. Sometimes, a lot of the time actually, it's hard to give up good benefit packages etc., but in my opinion this would serve as a healthy alternative.
